In my opinion Hyde Park is one of the great attractions of a great city. It is a wonderful bit of greenery virtually in the heart of London.It is a surprisingly large park as you soon find out when you start strolling around it on a sunny sunday.
Not only does it offer a restful respite from the hustle and bustle it can also be a fun place, a meeting spot and a place to enjoy some verbal gymnastics. As regards the latter I am referring to that utterly marvellous "institution" Speakers Corner. I have listened to some brilliant speakers there,some eccentrics,some religious freaks, some philosophers and some con men. It is never dull there on a Sunday morning or afternoon.I have met friends of mine from South East Asia in Hyde Park and I guess if you go there often enough you will see people from just about every country of the world.
Aside from the entertainment at Speakers Corner,there are statues,monuments,floral gardens,cafes and restaurants to explore as well as the lake that goes by the name of the Serpentine. I am told people dive into at Christmas time. You will also see people jogging,sun bathing and exercising their horses in Hyde Park. Also its a good place to eat your sandwiches and even have a picnic. What a place ? There is something for everyone at this green oasis.
