In the year2001,myself and my wife were on a tour of Deccan And had included Hyderabad as a prime destination. We had decided so because Hyderabad had elevated itself to a modern city with Information Technology facilities and had developed into a sprawling metropolis.Moreover,it is endowed with heritage sites from the pre-British days. We had visited the following places which provided a nice overview of modern and old Hyderabad:- RAMOJI FILM CITY A sprawling campus with nicely laid lawns and natural hillocks has been developed into a filmshooting locale.Artificial statues--replica of world famous dancing figures of Khajuraho,rivulets,buildings, roads,horror chambers i.e., anything and everything required for shooting a film can be found here.Personal efforts of a premier film producer and TV channel owner has brought about this creation.A tour around amply shows why Indian film industry has flourished into the largest one in the world. HOSSEIN SAGAR LAKE This lake is now centred with a large statue of 'GAUTAM BUDDHA' donated by the Japanese and beautifully illuminated around by the local administration. CHARMINAR A structure, surrounded by four minarets,through which a main thoroughfare passes has become the icon of the city. SALAR JUNG MUSEUM Set up by one of the illustrious nawab rulers of Hyderabad,this museum boasts of rare gem collections and statues like 'The veiled Rebecca'. This should be a must for any tourist/visitor to Hyderabad. GOLCONDA FORT This is the relics of a fort which has many stories behind it.The 'Son et lumiere show' is breathtaking and is backed by Indian classical music and the commentary is the Golden Voice of a matinee idol of Indian films. SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS. The city is famous for 'Hyderabadi Biriyani' which is Gourmet's delight. 'Hyderabad Pearls' are world famous for their glittertng appearance. ACCOMODATION No. of hotels are available to suit every pocket and taste. COMMUNICATIONS Hyderabad is well connected by Rail and Roadways toevery corner of the Indian subcontinent.Hyderabad's Begumpet International Airport is well connected to all the large Indian cities and also the middle east by reputed airlines. UNIQUE FEATURE Hyderabad is unique,like Calcutta,in having a twin city in Secunderabad. RECOMMENDATION It should be in the itinerary of every tourist in India or visiting India.
