If you come from Hyd and you want to fly directly there rather than fly to Mumbai and then get another flight to Hyd then take Emirates to Dubai and then straight on to Hyd, and you can have a stop over in Duty free heaven!
The only real problem with Hyd airport is that it is too small and not able to cope with the number of arrivals.
I think the current situation is going to change as a new International Airport was out on tender and maybe built, but then again that could be years away, in the meantime we have to put up with the waiting for luggage and immigration!
Also there is only one area to leave and the customs officers trying to check the baggage really don't know what they are doing. There can be a mass exodus of people leaving and the 2-3 customs officers trying to match up all the paper work with the luggage can't cope.
On our return journey out of Hyd airport, we were able to get some soft drinks and I think tea, not much in the way of getting a meal or variety in snacks. Also I think that there was only one telephone. Just think of all the Indian call centres and the aiport with just one telephone.
