I visited this hotel a couple of years ago as the second week of a cruise and stay with TUI.
This is a modern hotel with a lift we had a very pleasant room and balcony over looking the front and street but not too noisey. We were half board and we really could not fault the food in anyway, lots of choice hot/cold self service buffet style with daily specials. as much as you could eat. Even though it seemed busy the tables were cleared quickly and meal time was a pleasure. We went in March and there were not many children there but the ones that were did'nt seem to be at our end of the Hotel.
The garden and pool area was very well planned out even though it appears to be right next to a busy road it is not over looked at all. When having a day by the pool we found a quiet corner and nabbed our chairs before breakfast because as usual certain people always save chairs even if they are out for most of the day ! There was daily entertainment by the pool with fashion show and " Crazy Crazy Bingo " etc. During the evening some sort of entertainment aimed at the old holiday maker was on in the small ballroom, with old fasion dancing etc. this was very popular with the German Guests of which there were many.
If I was to stay in a Hotel in Gran canaria I would choose this one for sure. the price we paid was around £700 each but that was with a week cruising the islands all inclusive and a week half board at hotel. No extras to pay just insurance.
The bus station is a few steps away from the front of the hotel and these go everywhere. Also if you go on a coach trip the pick-up place is at the bus station too.
the view out the back of the hotel was up into the mountains of which a visit is a must. The beach however is not at this end of the resort so aways to go to get to the sandy part. it's not what we went for so no bother to us, it is easy to walk to as the promanade runs right along to Maspolamas and the sand dunes but its a long walk. there are plenty of Taxi's and hire cars around.
The Kumba centre is far enough away not to be a nuisance but near enough to walk to and taxi back with shopping.
We like to go to Gran Canaria in March as it's usally awlful here but very warm without being to hot over there.
The flight takes just under four hours so pick a good airline with entertainment as this can be a long trip for the children.
We now have a timeshare at another resort or we would have gone again to The Continental, happy memories of this hotel and you can't miss it as it's pale pink !
Loads to do and see on Gran Canaria, I love it here and think there is something for everyone. The roads are mostly new with a duel carriageway running down from the capital to airport and right down towards PortoMorgan which is a must for supper as there is every type of resturant you can imagine laid out in a square all around the port - lovely but to busy during the day.
the mountain roads are very winding but the views are worth the trip, buses go up to most of the towns but hire a car and explore !
The locals are very friendly and communication easy even thought we don't have any spainish. Tourisum is the main employer so you are always well looked after.
Go on treat your self you'll love it !
