Advantages: walking distance from city centre Disadvantages: none
Barcelona's PortVell is a fabulous oasis of restaurants, bars, a huge aquarium (the largest in Europe), a shopping mall, and an Imax cinema. An amazing bridge takes you across to these delights. We came across PortVell by accident, we had walked along Les Ramblas and as we got to the bottom we could glimpse the sea and a huge wooden wave suspended in air, which intrigued us. The huge wave was part of a fantastic swing bridge, which is as wide as it is long and is on two levels.
Judging by the amount of people making the crossing we decided that there must be something to see at the other end. After stopping half way across and sitting on one of the many benches scattered over the bridge we watched the world go by relaxing with the sun on our faces and the sea and boats swaying in the gentle breeze.
A large shopping mall ...
Advantages: 3D like never before Disadvantages: Being inside on a sunny day
Sydney's IMAX Theatre in Darling Harbour is home to the world's largest movie screen at a whopping 80 storeys high! The building itself is the shape of an eye, decorated in yellow and black aluminium checks, which was designed by and Australian architect by the name of Lionel Glendinning. IMAX is open 365 days a year and shows films on the hour, every hour, from 10am until 10pm. The cinema seats 540 people at a time and there is plenty of leg room.
The screen is made from vinyl which is painted with a reflective silver coating, stretched over scaffold frames. The films are projected on 15 perforation/70mm film which means nothing to me but is apparently the largest film format that exists today and the 3D projector uses 2 ...

Advantages: Massive Screen Disadvantages: ticket prices quite high
I havent been to the Imax in a while but I love it when I do go. The last thing I went to see there was Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix ( the last one to be released) and it was amazing!
I went to the Imax in Waterloo and it is massive. It is located on the South Bank and is about 5 minutes walk from Waterloo station. You cannot miss the building due to its sheer size and colour effects.
It seats around 500 people in each screen and the seats are well positioned to give you a good view and plenty of leg room which is a nice change. They also boast about having a screen that is 20 metres high and 26 metres wide and have an 11,600-watt sound system.
Ticket prices are quite high (unsurprisingly). An adult ticket costs about £12 and children have to pay £8. The box office is located on the ground floor as soon as you ...
