fly Iberia airways. Ever. Not if you want to arrive with your luggage/sanity/holiday spirit intact. They are, quite simply, the worst airline I've ever flown. Coming back from Mexico to the UK last year with them was the worst airline experience of my life. For a start, they failed to tell us that they'd moved the flight forward an hour, so by the time we checked in we'd already missed it. They managed to get our bags on after I burst into tears, and shunted us onto another flight to Miami. At Miami we transferred to the transatlantic flight, a normal if below standard trip - the seat space was non-existent, the food terrible and the music choice eccentric to say the least. The plane, however, did make it to spain - just - but an hour late. Which left us half an hour to get the connection back to the UK. Our attempts to bolt through the airport were stymied when we got to the xray machine to find a massive crew, a film crew arguing with guards about whether they had to put their cameras through or not - debate which was a bit academic given the thing had broken and they weren't letting anyone through anyhow.
Eventually we just walked past, they were so busy arguing they didn't notice. We managed to make the flight, but discovered back at Heathrow that our luggage hadn't. There is little more depressing than being the last people at the carosel, watching a few folorn bags going round and round that aren't yours. In the end, we had to go home and wait for them to turn up. My mate's arrived about 8 hours later via courier, mine didn't turn up for an entire nailbiting day, during which time it apparently paid a quick visit to San Francisco. Iberia didn't offer us an apology, let alone compensation. I'll never fly with them again. In fact, if it wasn't for the Atlantic I'd advise walking rather than getting on one of their translatlantic flights. Honestly, take my advice and pay the extra £30 or whatever for the next airline up. It's worth it.

Iberia is an awful, awful airline. My own experience with them is one of utter incompetance and a complete lack of customer service. I don't know what Daniel's problem (or connection with Iberia) is, but Iberia is a running joke in Spain. I have both friends and family who are Spanish and the only reason any of them would ever chose to book Iberia is if they had no choice out of what the destination dictated. Iberia have experienced scandals in Spain and their appointment of leadership is down to what the Spanish call "Enchufe". I would suggest Daniel goes further afield to read what many, many customers/victims of Iberia have been through with this excremental excuse for an airline.

Oh, right. So none of this is the airline's fault and I got it wrong, I actually had a really good flight, my luggage didn't get lost and I didn't get treated like crap. And it's also my imagination that everyone else here except you who's written about this has had similar experiences. My mistake. Why on earth are you so determined to defend them, to the point of making personal attacks on those who, it seems to me, are posting quite reasonably about their bad experiences with this carrier?

So you think no other airline loses baggage? Try watching airport one day.
(No i don't work for Iberia)
The plane? Try flying first class.
The cramped space? They've gotta make a profit, and anyway, it's the plane MANUFACTURER here you need to blame.
ImogenW. You are the Weakest Link. Goodbye.
