We booked this holiday a couple of months ag, in June. We decided to go all inclusive after last year's trip to the Bahamas. It cost just over £2000 including insurance for 14 nights. On arriving in Crete (2.5 hours late due to delays at Bristol airport) it was rediculously hot - the airport in Heraklion is very small and its a bit of a battle to collect your bags and get out of the arrivals hall. As you walk out you are accosted by the heat and, across the road are a number of "huts" which iswhere you'll find the travel reps. We were loaded onto a coach by our rep Jodie (who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable - even though she looked about 16 years old!). First stop was our hotel, the Creta Panorama and Creta Mare, after a 50 minute journey. There are actually three hotels here 3km from Panormo and 15km from Rethymno. The Creta Panorama where we stayed, Creta Mare which are bungalows in the grounds of the Panorama and nextdoor is the Creta Marine. There are no boundaries between the Panorama and the Marine and they don't accept each others All Inclusive bracelet thingys so beware!
Ok back to the Panorama - its very nice, the reception area is a huge lobby with lots of sofas and marble. There are a couple of shops in the lobby (a boutique and a jewelry shop) and the lobby bar.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean with all the usual trimmings (wardrobes, safe, chests of drawers, huge bed, desk, chairs, bathroom (with hairdryer) and a balcony - ours looked out over the main pool area and gardens. However, no tea/coffee-making facilities in any of the rooms.
FACILITIES: Pools - 5, 4 outdoor and 1 indoor. There is one large pool outside the main hotel building, the indoor pool is in the main building. The other 3 outdoor pools are spread around the gardens in among the bungalows - anyone can use any of the pools. There are bars around the main pools as well as serve yourself beer and water on tap. There are also three bays in the sea which belong to the hotel where you can lie in the sun or swim in the clear blue waters
Restaurants: 3. In the main building are the two main buffets the Iberostar and Italian. Out by the main pool is Zorbas Tavern. The buffets provide breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a midnight buffet. The Tavern provides lunch and snacks all day and A La Carte dining at night - you have to book this though. You get one visit per week stay. The food in varied and plentiful; the buffet provides soups, salads, pastas, other hot food and a carvery, desserts, fresh fruit and ice cream. Also there is red and white wine, beer, water and soft drinks on tap for you to help yourself.
Activities: During the day there are all sorts of free activities: Aerobics, aquarobics, archery, rifle-shooting, French boules, basketball, football, volleyball, table-tennis, latin dancing etc etc In the evening there is a show every night in the open-air theatre (which has its own bar too). Some nights have live music in the lobby bar and the music bar (disco) is open every night from 10.30 - 1.00am
All of the staff at the hotel speak several languages including English and are very helpful.
All in all i would say it is an excellent hotel with excellent staff.
