the centre of Can Picafort. Local shops, restaurants and bars are all very close by. Bedrooms are fully equipped with modern facilities and amenities and the hotel has good leisure facilities including an outdoor swimming pool.
Advantages: Beachfront Property Disadvantages: Its A Long Bus Ride into Varadero Centre
...stamped and queued up to have our hand luggage surched. This is standard practice - the cubans can be quite suspicious, especially with mp3 players, camera mobile phones and anything that looks like it could be used for spying.
We finally arrive at the Iberostar Tainos about 18:00, and are greated by a Thomas Cook rep who will "assist" us on check-in, his assistance involves putting on our all-inclusive bands. I get checked in, and am really chuffed to find out my request for a bungalow style room has been confimed, and even better, i'm in the closest bungalow block to the beach.
I walk outside the reception/lobby bar area and get my first good look at the complex, the first thing I notice is the tropical gardens, which are beautiful, and well maintained by a small team of gardeners (if you see them in the morning say hi, you...

Advantages: This hotel offers a very good diving school. Disadvantages: The food in this hotel was good, but they had a problem keeping the food warm.
...The first thing I noticed about this hotel was after walking into the reception area. They had a large lounge area with comfortable chairs and the bar in easy walking distance. First impressions was that this was a very relaxing area.
The staff at this hotel are very friendly. After checking in the bell boy offered to take a member of are party on a golf cart, as they had a walking stick and difficulty walking. The rest of the party was also invited to jump on the golf cart with are baggage.
The hotel is surronded in very nice tropical gardens and it was nice to see all the wildlife. The hotel have a pond area where you can see lizards, parrots and flamingoes.
The beach was very nice but the water was not very easy to get into, as there seemed to be a lot of concrete in the water when first getting in. I don't if this was due...

Advantages: Beautiful Hotel, Close to Las Americas, but still far enough away Disadvantages: Lack of sunbeds

One place I highly recommend is Teide National Park and going to the top of Mount Teide. Mouth Teide is the third largest volcano in the world, and the highest mountain in Spain, its 3,715 meters above sea level. A lot of people think that it is extinct, but it is only dormant, the most recent eruption being in 1909, it was even on amber alert when we were there. You can drive up to the quite a lot of the way up the mountain, through the crater and then get a cable car to the top, or walk if you really want to. The cable car is quite expensive to get to the top, 20Euros each, and is really scary, but when you are up there, the views are spectacular, on a clear day, you can see all seven of the Canary...

It was part business, part leisure that took me to De Vere Carden Park Hotel and Golf club this weekend for an overnight stay. I was looking forward to some rest and relaxation, having made several trips to the NW over recent weeks. I have stayed at this more
