...we came back and the Iberostar Tucan caught my eye for many reasons. This is very lucky since we definitely wanted to go back to the Playacar area and First Choice only offered two hotels in this area; the Sandos and the Iberostar Tucan. Luckily they both are on the best bit of beach but the Iberostar Tucan (at the time of us going) is a superior hotel by far. That said the Sandos is undergoing huge renovations to become a five star at the moment.

At the Iberostar Tucan, you are presented upon arriving with either a green (over 18s) or white (under 18s) wristband upon check in. Don't worry the drinking age in Mexico is 18 not 21. At the Tucan you are allowed unlimited food from the buffet restaurant, unlimited room service and unlimited drinks of any kind.
