For dining the hotel offers the modern Cafí Carnavale serving an excellent choice of meals and snacks. The hotel is an excellent base for visits to the Lake District.
Advantages: A wonderful watering-hole for the weary traveller. Disadvantages: You have to leave Alba to get there!
...It's made my night to see Carlisle categorised under "Destinations - Scotland"!
Joking apart, it's a great town, and I've stopped over in Carlisle many times en route South or North. And many's a good meal and convivial beer have been consumed therein.
But come on, Ciao (or whoever is responsible for the geography), we all know Carlisle's well south of the border.
We Scots have our pride. When we take Carlisle, it will be with skirling pipes and brandished claymore, in true Braveheart/Hollywood fashion. Don't hand it to us on a plate!...

Advantages: Great location, cheap, clean Disadvantages: Budget hotel
...I stayed at the Ibis Stopera in Amsterdam in April 2006 with two friends and would definitely recommend it for anyone who it looking for a budget hotel that can be relied on.
For anyone who hasn't stayed in an Ibis hotel before I would describe them as a superior travelodge. In other words, no matter which one you go to, you generally know what you're getting. Always clean and a good service. There was also a bar.
For three girls on a budget the Ibis Stopera was perfect as they have triple rooms available, this made it a very reasonable rate when split between the three of us - and this included breakfast (which was very nice). We had a lovely ground floor room which looked out onto the canal at the back of the hotel.
Location#
The Ibis Stopera is in a great location, a 15 min stroll from the train station and just around the corner...
