Ibis Hotel Gatwick airport . As it can be a worry getting to airports for early morning flights, I now choose the option of booking an airport hotel for the night. I did an internet search and found the Gatwick Ibis the best price for the night I wanted to stay. Approx 41 pounds per room weekends and 46 pounds weekdays. I stayed on the night 26th august for 46 pounds. . From Gatwick airport, courtesy coach stand, there is a free phone to the hotel to request transfer to hotel. A minibus arrived within 10 minutes for the short transfer to the hotel. At check in desk you can book your transfer to the airport for the following morning. Transfers are every 30 minutes from 0500, night transfers are available on request. . The room itself was a rather small double bedded air conditioned room. It had TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Very clean and appeared newly decorated. The bathroom was again small but clean with shower cabin and very efficient power shower. . The hotel facilities were a different matter. Adjoining the reception was, what I would describe as, a small cafeteria. There was no seating at the bar so you had to sit at a rather uncomfortable tables. The food menu was very limited - pizza, burgers etc.. The food I could see being served to other guests looked very unappetizing. Very much ‘freezer to microwave’ fare. If you wanted to eat, the best option, walk 5 minutes down the road to the Gatwick Manor hotel. They have a very comfortable bar with good drink selection and an extensive menu of freshly cooked food. Next time I will check the price of staying at this hotel. . To sum up: A clean reasonably priced place to stay if you just want a bed for the night. If you want a bit more luxury, it might be better to spend few more pounds to stay at another hotel.
