Advantages: Car Parking, no noise, close to airport, just what was needed Disadvantages: Bit small
Well I have already done an opinion on Crete in general, the hotel I stayed in on the island, and now to continue the series another hotel opinion. This time the Thistle Hotel at Gatwickairport was the first place of stop for the holiday.

Well it may not be the most stylish place to begin a great holiday, but it was sort of essential. We had a flight from LondonGatwickairport to Crete’s capital Heraklion for 7:35 in the morning. Coming from the Westcounty it would be a long 3-hour drive to Gatwick to make that sort of time in the morning flight, and not liking early mornings anyway a hotel for the previous night looked a good option. Gatwickairport has several hotels from large chains, so there was plenty of choice. For no particular reason we chose the Thistle Hotel. Ok, so we went of a good reputation ...
Advantages: Sounds prestigious Disadvantages: Not good value for money
Three weeks ago my husband and myself went to Austria on holiday. Now, normally, we would book our flight from Stanstead as it's just down the road, so to speak, but as this holiday was a present from one of our daughters and her husband, we accepted gratefully what she had arranged, which was a flight from Gatwick to Salzburg leaving at 6.05am.

Well, I surfed the net and discovered the Gatwick Hilton for £139 for a double room. It sounded a lot but this also included 15 days parking, which would have cost around £70-80 on its own, and we didn't require breakfast that early in the morning. So, £139 for the room and parking seemed like a small price ...
Advantages: Affordable and Reliable Disadvantages: Once got date of return wrong, but were resolved this quickly
Airparks is a company that runs a long term car parking facility at GatwickAirport. I have used them on 3 different occasions when going on holiday. I usually prefer to use public transport to and from the airport but when the flight returns quite late I like to drive back. To book visit their website (www.airparks.co.uk), select the dates that you are looking to park for and they will quote a price. For 6 days this is in the region of £27 or £4.50 per day, so is not too bad. They are listed on several cashback sites, such as quidco and topcashback, so you can get around 10% of this back. You can pay by credit or debit card (credit cards have a £1.50 fee) and once payment has gone through you are sent a confirmation email with a reference number that you have to take with you when you go.
The car park itself is located just off the A ...
