...Being the UK's second largest airport, LondonGatwick has the job of catering for the overflow from Heathrow and does it very well indeed. This is an outline of what Gatwick offers.
LOCATION/ACCESSIBILITY
The name LondonGatwick is slightly misleading because it is not in London at all. It is in Crawley, West Sussex and just on the border of Surrey. The Gatwick Express train is a mere 30 minutes trip from London Victoria and there are also connections to the airport from destinations such as Brighton, Southampton and Bristol. Gatwick is off the M23 which connects to the M25 and is normally Ok for traffic. Parking is not too bad and is easy to get the monorail over to either terminal

As it can be a worry getting to airports for early morning flights, I now choose the option of booking an airport hotel for the night. I did an internet search and found the GatwickIbis the best price for the night I wanted to stay. Approx 41 pounds per room weekends and 46 pounds weekdays. I stayed on the night 26th august for 46 pounds.

From Gatwickairport, courtesy coach stand, there is a free phone to the hotel to request transfer to hotel. A minibus arrived within 10 minutes for the short transfer to the hotel. At check in desk you can book your transfer to the airport for the following morning. Transfers are every 30 minutes from 0500, night transfers are available on request.

The room itself was a rather small double bedded air conditioned room. It had TV and tea and coffee making facilities...

Advantages: Cheap, clean and near Gatwick Airport Disadvantages: Not a great selection of food in the cafe
...the Ibis, but personally I would rather hold on to my cash and have a good time spending it abroad.
