Advantages: Great story, amazing actors/actresses, worth watching Disadvantages: Beginning bit quite boring
This has to be the best film I have ever watched. It's one of my favourites.
I can't remember the first time I watched it, I think I was about 14 me and my dad were at his and he put it on ... I'm not normally into music ones where theres loads of singing and dancing but this was just amazing. Especially the scene in Satine's bedroom and also on the elephant those bits were just fantastic.
The film is contorversial and I would recommend your careful showing young children this film because of the sexy bits that appear in the film.
THE PLOT
Moulin Rouge is set in Paris at the start of the 1900's, with Ewan McGregor on his type writer. The next bit is a bit of a blur, because when I watch it, I just skip to the bit where he sings for the first time.
Satine (Kidman) mistakes Christian (McGregor) for the Duke and tells him ...
Before I went to the cinema last weekend I decided to have a look at all the opinions that have been written on new films. I came accross HUGE amounts on Moulin Rouge, almost all were telling me how brilliant it was. Thus, off I went to the cinema!
I actually went to the cinema with a friend of mine who'd already seen it, and wanted to see it again. This made it look even more promising!
The basic outline of the film:
Nicola Kidman (Setine) and Ewan McGregor (Christian the poor poet!) play the stars of the show. It's set at the Moulin Rouge dance club in Paris, where Setine is the star of the show.
Christian goes along one night with his friends and they set him up to spend the evening with Setine. But, the Duke has also set up the same meeting.
Christian made it to the room first, and Setine thought he was the duke. She was ...
Advantages: Modern songs, great costumes, great actors/actresses. Disadvantages: The plot wasn't that easy to follow.
This review of Moulin Rouge was written as a project for my music class at school, which I must admit I am very proud of because I got an A and I haven?t achieved one of those in ages. It was fun writing the project as in class my friend Jenny who loves the film kept on coming up to me while I was writing and saying ?Aaah Moulin Rouge!? every five minutes, which got a bit annoying. I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing and getting a great grade for it!
