Ibis Sheffield - the heat is on, no it's off again!

Advantages: Good location, good value for money
Disadvantages: No additional facilties

A low budget weekend getaway (thanks to National Express for the £1 each way offer!) called for a low cost hotel. I remembered someone saying that the Accor family member Etap now had a hotel in Sheffield but, situated by the Don Valley Stadium, it was a little too far out of town to be practical for such a short stay. As I am now the proud owner of an Accor hotels loyalty card I decided to check the Accor website and see if any other reasonably priced hotels presented themselves and this was how we came to choose the Ibis. I know this will sound strange to those readers who like a certain ?standard? of accommodation but I have rarely considered Ibis hotels because I?ve always thought them to be pricey; in any case I tend to look at hostel and bed and breakfast accommodation before I look at hotel options. We were quoted £49 ...

Review of Ibis, Sheffield

A night at the Ibis

Advantages: Service was great
Disadvantages: Room a bit small

This past weekend I was lucky enough to have tickets to the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix, held at Albert Park in Melbourne. We had booked a 7.30am flight from Sydney and we landed in Melbourne at 8.45am bleary eyed but exited. The hotel is about 25 minutes way by coach from Melbourne's main airport, Tullamarine, and we pulled in at Southern Cross bus station which was a short 5 minute stroll to the hotel. It was too early to expect to get into our room at the Ibis but we were hoping they'd keep our luggage safe for is so we could get off to the track. When we arrived we explained what our plan was for the day and the receptionist was very helpful and accommodating, giving us a couple of options for luggage storage and checking us in so that we would have no hassle when we returned that evening. We went off and had a great day, not ...

Review of Ibis Hotel Little Bourke Street, Melbourne

Typical Ibis

Advantages: The rooms and location
Disadvantages: Food, can not open windows

There was a time when we had to travel by car quite a lot, especially in Italy, Spain and France. Since there was no specific route or time constrains we would find ourselves on the highways late at night and when getting tired you can not be so picky choosing the hotel. There were good experiences but some were just plain wrong. So the sign of an Ibis hotel was always like seeing an oasis in the middle of desert. Might not be the world's best hotel, but it was nice and comfortable and you knew exactly how your room it?s going to be like long before you set foot in it. Ibis is an international hotel chain, part of Accor. It has a number of 767 hotels worldwide, out of which 370 are in France and the majority of the other hotels in Europe. Usually, the hotels are situated in the vicinity of railway stations or airports. The first ...
