Welcome to my review on the Ibis hotel, Paderborn.
Ibis. Ibis is a parent name for many franchises world wide. Each hotel is owned and run by individuals trading as Ibis, complying to the companies standards and ethics.
Ibis has a base standard work line for all its hotels, and you will find a standardisation between all of them.
Ibis was the first hotel chain to earn ISO 14001 certification, the standard for environmental protection for such businesses.
Ibis Paderborn. The Ibis in Paderborn (Nord Rhein Westfahlen, Germany) is located at the centre of the city, with ease of access to the shopping facilities, and all main British Military Barracks within the area (Allenbrooke and Barker Barracks)
It has 90 rooms with WiFi Internet, two meeting rooms, a bar, snack vending 24 hours, room service, private outdoor pay parking, private undercover parking and public undercover parking, there is a restaurant nearby the hotel. There is also a golf course 8 km away (Sennelager) and tenniscourts 5 km away.
Pets are allowed within the hotel.
The hotel is very clean, and the staff are unusually friendly, and of course, speak perfect English.
Prices start from approximately 40 Euros per night (As of Nov 2006) and that includes a German style breakfast (No fry up here Im afraid!)
This hotel is rated as a 2 star, but this is due to the facilites, it would easily achieve a higher grade if it were in the UK, and is certainly better than many UK hotels with higher gradings.
It is clean, servicable, and safe - what more would you want?
Across the road is another hotel (Name ommited), this has a 5 star rating, and will cost in excess of 200 Euro per night.
Most windows face onto other buildings, however, front windows and the restaurant windows face onto the city itself with lovely views of the park.
A jogging and cycle route follows the river Pader through the outskirts of the city.
I would recommend this to anyone wishing to visit Paderborn.
