...The Brecon Hotel in Rotherham was the choice of venue for my work's Christmas Party last Friday, 1st December 2006. We had left it a little late to get in anywhere and found that the Brecon was just about the only place that could accommodate our part of around 40 people. This was my first visit to this Hotel, although since it is located on one of the main routes just outside of Rotherham it is a place that I have passed many times. The Brecon is a well known Hotel locally. Established in 1963 it is a family run Hotel that prides itself on the reputation that it has built up over the years. It is a medium sized Hotel with 21 Rooms. All of which are en suite and have a colour TV, Radio and Tea and Coffee making facilities. ...condition and provide a wonderful insight into these little chapels. I have lived in or around Sheffield all of my life and I have worked in nearby Rotherham for the last 15 years. One such example of a Chantry Bridge Chapel stands on Rotherham Bridge and I pass it almost every working day of my life on my journey to and from work. It would be easy to have become complacent and to have taken it for granted but even now, every time that I pass it by it still grabs my attention. Chantry Bridge Chapels were built to provide a place of worship for travellers who would stop off at them and pray for a safe onward journey. It was common to find a stagecoach inn located at the end of at least one of the sides of a Chantry Bridge and it was not unusual to find a stagecoach inn at both ends, such was their popularity. ...A low budget weekend getaway (thanks to National Express for the £1 each way offer!) called for a low cost hotel. I remembered someone saying that the Accor family member Etap now had a hotel in Sheffield but, situated by the Don Valley Stadium, it was a little too far out of town to be practical for such a short stay. As I am now the proud owner of an Accor hotels loyalty card I decided to check the Accor website and see if any other reasonably priced hotels presented themselves and this was how we came to choose the Ibis.
