When the call came for me to play Ice Hockey in Rouen for NYPD on 10th January, I was somewhat confused.
"Where is Rouen?" I knew it was in france somewhere but where?
Let me tell you.
Rouen is a town located in the Northwestern part of France and is the capital of Normandy.
It sits alongside the Seine and is famous for its old world buildings, churches and cathedral.
As well as this, it also has many cobbled streets around the town centre which retains its character with antiques shops and small french cafes and restaurants.
How do you get there.
Well, you have a couple of options.
Firstly, there is an excellent Train Station in the middle of the town. The station or "Gare" is on a direct line from Paris and costs about 60 Euros for the journey which is just over an hour and a half.

Although I am usually to be heard extolling the virtues of hostels and small private hotels, I have of late found myself increasingly turning to Accor hotels. Admittedly I do look at their cheaper chains first but I have managed to get myself some reasonable rates at some of their mid-priced hotels too. The same rooms can be available at several different rates and differ according to certain conditions. You?ll get the best rate if you are prepared to pay fully in advance and risk losing your payment if you cancel.
This is how we managed to pay a, not unreasonable, rate of £63 for a double room at Ibis Euston on a Saturday in late November. The standard rate advertised outside the hotel is £129 so this represents a good saving.
Although we were traveling into and out of Kings Cross we were happy enough to stay at Euston as ...

Where to sleep :
If I was you, I prefered to sleep at Paris (1 hour by train 12$ paris-rouen-paris) or at deauville the famous city where there is in september an american movie festival
But everywhere you can find ibis hotel very good, and cheaper than in england (35£ the room)
at rouen kyriad like Ibis but with a view on Seine (water which cross my town)
at deauville : le florian (hotel **** with vieuw on the sea for 70£ (per room)
or if you are rich (contact me please, not i am laugthing! ..hum not really!) the barriere hotel where ferrari, and ally mac beal or harrison ford slept : 120£ the room
WHere to spend your money :
You can find Printemps like debenham's , where there are french brand : lancôme, chanel, parfum,dishes, clothes..
the french touch,
stop : an advice you can't use the detaxe!!!
