...Go to Seville at Easter - Semana Santa- it is unique. You can fly cheaply from Liverpool on EasyJet direct to Malaga and get a cheap train for an hour.It completely outdoes any other European City for celebrations. Every day from noon til dawn fervant Catholic hooded penitents march solemnly in carefully controlled processions from church to church. They accompany huge heavy floats of catholic icons.It's completely OTT and slightly scary but truly unmissable - a kind of benevolent KKK convention with plenty to eat... And all this with the scent of the orange trees in the air. Do it....

Advantages: Tranquil pace of life, shopping, monument, TAPAS!, orange blossom Disadvantages: none
...Seville is without a doubt my favourite European city. It is perhaps the only city I've visited which "feels" like a village. The pace of life is slow, the shops are often small and local, everything is walkable within the centre.
The best bits of Seville:
* eating tapas
* climbing to the top of the Giralda for a view of the city
* river cruises
* shopping.
There are plenty of designer boutiques.
Recommendations:
* Hotel Cervantes - quiet, back street, nice food, good service, needs air-conditioning
* Hotel La Rabida - rather upmarket, but very traditional. Not a lot of choices if you don't want the full meal
* Hotel Catalonia Giralda - this chain of hotels is probably the cleanest, most modern in Spain
Bar Europa - lovely little tapas bar with plenty of more unusual choices. Try the ajoblanco or the pate de perdiz...

Advantages: Breath-takingly beautiful, happy atmosphere, great weather. Disadvantages: A lack of many modern shops, no beach.

People love living in this city, and they are full of energy, eating out in tapas bars or partying in bars until the morning. This is cheap to do, as in general the cost of living here is cheaper than in other countries such as England. People are friendly and welcoming, although not many speak English well. As Seville is the capital of its region Andalusia, it has many cheap bus services which go to other cities of interest and those near the beach. Although Seville...
