Ibis Hotel Kista is located in the northeast of Stockholm, near the highway E4 and 25 km from the airport. It takes 15 minutes by car and 20 minutes by subway to get to the city centre.
I stayed here in September for 3 nights and this is my opinions of this hostel.
Location
We arrived into Stockholm at around 2pm from a train from Oslo. The hostel is within easy walking distance of the main train station. Although it is only a five or tem minute walk from the train station the directions we recieved from hostelworld were not the most clear and we ended up going the long way round to get to the hostel.
The hostel is located just off a busy shopping street and from the train station you need to go down a couple of levels of roads to get to the main street.
However things are a bit more complex if arriving by ferry or air and it is avisable to simply get a taxi from either to the main train station or the hostel itself.
Our welcome
We arrived at the hostel and our welcome was one of the most pleasant ...
Advantages: 'Pre-parties', 'Norrlands Guld' and superb transport links. Disadvantages: High alcohol prices, weak beer and strict bouncers.
Overview?
I was recently invited to visit a friend in Stockholm, who claimed to be 'researching' land-use in the city as part of his final year dissertation. Stockholm is the capital of Sweden, and also considered to be the capital of Scandinavia. The city was built in the 13th century around Lake Mälaren, allowing the taxation of merchant vessels going in and out of the lake. It is built across 14 islands and is sometimes known as the 'Venice of the North'. Stockholm is renowned for its clean drinking water along with freedom of its waterways ...
Advantages: lots on offer Disadvantages: on the expensive side
I have yet to meet a person who goes to Stockholm to go shopping, but that does not mean that it is a boring place to shop. Quite on the contrary. Even though Stockholm is Sweden’s capital, shopping is not a particularly rushed experience and it is easy to ignore all the Stockholmers rushing around the way people tend to do in bigger cities. If in the town centre, the main shopping streets are Hamngatan and Drottninggatan. This area is where you can find the department stores, NK and Ahlens for example, shopping centres, for example Gallerian, and second hand clothing shops, for example UFF(excellent value).
For antique shops, second hand shops and boutiques, my suggestion would be to go to Gamla Stan, the Old Town. It’s an island, easily accessible from Drottninggatan, and is full of small shops and also art galleries ...
