Advantages: cheap, quiet, clean and well-located, friendly and helpful staff Disadvantages: hardly luxurious! Noise from trams if at the front
...This hotel is well-located near the station in Strasbourg. Ibis is one of the Accor brand of hotels, towards the bottom end of the luxury scale. Here it is 2 star.
I have to spend 3 nights in Strasbourg, 12 times a year because of work. The working hours are long, meaning that for me the most important thing is a clean, comfortable room, with a good firm bed so I can sleep reasonably well. It helps to be well-situated for both public transport and parking to make getting to work easier.
This Ibis meets these requirements. It is €69 per night, although to secure a booking during the weeks when the European Parliament is in town it is necessary to have an Accor Card. These currently cost €130, but give you a 10% discount off your bill.
I have the same room each time I stay, which is tucked away in the annex at the back. The room...

Advantages: Clean, cheap and can be well located Disadvantages: none
...Recently returned from a European car tour taking in the sights of Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany and Switzerland.
Booked 4 hotels from the Accor group - 2 of which were Etap. Never stayed in them before so didn't know what to expect.
Arrived in Strasbourg - very easy instructions to follow and car parking available at hotel. Next door is McDonalds and over the road is IBIS. Right on the tram line to the city centre as well. Excellent.

Door code was isued on a piece of paper - like a credit...

Advantages: Not expensive, clean and comfortable rooms, restaurant on site Disadvantages: Location not near centre of the town, slightly spartan
...12 times a year, I spend Monday to Thursday in the Alsacian city of Strasbourg, as my main place of work relocates in accordance with Treaty provisions agreed by all the governments of the European Union. Leaving aside the huge waste of resources this entails and the enormous carbon footprint of the whole exercise, it is a chore and a source of great strain for those of us who have to endure it. The hours are long, and since the people one is with in the evening are your work colleagues, you never feel off duty. Additionally, since for 12 weeks of the year the city has a massive influx of people, the availability of hotel rooms is severely tested, and I have tried various options over the years. Most recently, I have been staying at the IbisStrasbourg Expo Congres in Schiltigheim, which is the subject of this review.
= IBIS...
