Icmeler beach the perfect place to soak up the mediterranean sun.
Plenty of sunbeds to lounge around and beautiful clear sea. Very nice sand/small shingle beach but always very very clean. Nice enclosed bay with clearly marked swimming areas so no danger of getting in the way of the activities that ... ...can probably find it in Icmeler market. Be prepared to barter with the locals you have to haggle over prices but can end up with some excellent bargains. I found that quite a shock the first year we went as wasn't expecting it to be so full on everyone trying to get your business and very vocal about it. Wasn't so bothered the following year as i knew what to expect.

Icmeler beach the perfect place to soak up the mediterranean sun.
Plenty of sunbeds to lounge around and beautiful clear sea. Very nice sand/small shingle beach but always very very clean. They take excellent care of the beach and it is cleaned and raked every night. Plenty of room around your sunbed for the kids to play. Nice enclosed bay with clearly marked swimming areas so no danger of getting in the way of the activities that you can do - para-sailing, crayzee ringos, pedalos, boat trips. The sea is normally calm and excellent for swimmers of all standards with nice shallow water close to the beach but the further out it gets very deep very quickly. You can always hop on the water taxi to Marmaris for a day out or go on one of the orgasised boat trips that are readily available from the seafront. Sunbeds are cheap and there are plenty of places to eat along the front or grab an ice cream or cold drink. I have been twice now and wouldn't go anywhere else. Pop up to one of the local bars for a nice cool Efes and a bite to eat. Prices are excellent value for money and the food is superb from local dishes to steak and chips. Wide range of bars and restaurants close to beach. Take a walk up the canal for lots of little stores selling clothes, local arts and crafts, souvenirs, turkish delight and lots of other things.
The night life is always fun and the Turkish love to entertain. Lots of the bars have nightly shows, dancing and there are a few karaoke bars.
The apartments we have stayed in have always been clean and pretty well equipped for our needs. The only thing I would say is if you are going when it is really hot then try and get somehwere NEAR the beach as the walk back can be pretty tough going in the heat as once you get off the beach there is usually no breeze at all.
There is a weekly market selling all sorts - fruit, souvenirs, crystal, leather, clothes you name it you can probably find it in Icmeler market. Be prepared to barter with the locals you have to haggle over prices but can end up with some excellent bargains. I found that quite a shock the first year we went as wasn't expecting it to be so full on everyone trying to get your business and very vocal about it. Ladies send your man for a Turkish shave, they do it with a cut throat razor - it's quite fun to watch and gives them a face as smooth as a babies bottom!!! While your waiting why not have a manicure or a pedicure, a lovely treat.
I found Icemeler a cultural delight with a mix of the holiday side of Turkey with a lovely old Turkish style of life. There is so much to explore and do that you could go back year after year.
All the Turkish are friendly and one of the things that shocked me most was that even though it was over 12 months between our trips people still remembered us and welcomed us back like friends which is what we all became and there were plenty of tears when we left.
Icmeler beach is the perfect place to lie back, soak up the sun and relax in the laid back mediterranean style.
Advantages: Lovely people, cheap, the sun Disadvantages: I had to come home
first.
*WEATHER*
The weather in Marmaris is really hot, you are advised to not sunbathe between 12-2pm when it's at it's hightest, it can be unbearable.
You are also advised to drink plenty of water (bottled).
*INCMELER*
Icmeler is a small town in the district of Marmaris and is only 5 minutes on a bus or boat.
Icmeler is a lot quieter than Marmaris and less few bars and nightclubs.
The one thing which Icmeler has got and that is a really good beach.
Icmeler is an expensive resort so I would save your money for Marmaris.
*OTHER INFO*
* There is one song which is always being played in Turkey and that is "kiss kiss", this has been no 1 for a few years and everytime the song is being played all the turkish people stand up and do a dance to it.
*The turkish money is in turkish lira
* If you don't like walking there ...
Advantages: Excellent All Inclusive option Disadvantages: Not near Resort Amenities
For anyone looking to go to Marmaris, the Marmaris Palace is a great base in which to customise to the resort. I would strongly recommend here for first time visitors to Turkey.
The complex has everything you need inside - and as its an all inclusive unit means you dont need to worry about cost when you get there.
Location
------------
Set on the main road route to Icmeler, which is the neighbouring town to Marmaris. Icmeler itself is a lot quieter than Marmaris, has a nicer beach and more suited to couples and less livley families. Marmaris is more lively, great for shopping, has plenty of bars/clubs/resturants - suitable for all but would appeal to youngsters aswell who perhaps would find Icmeler a bit boring.
You can get a bus (dolmus) outside the complex which will take you into Icmeler or cross the road for a bus to ...
Advantages: Cheap and Beautiful Disadvantages: Hassle off Restaurant promoters so to speak....
shining upon you for the whole day which is an advantage becuase this means the sea will be warm.
A range of activities can also be done at the beach. Such as Paragliding, Jetskiing and you can rent out a Pedlo. A water park is also found on the beach front.
~+ RESTAURANTS +~
The restaurants in Marmaris are situated near to the beach and each serve an excellent menu. There are restaurants on the promenade, within the streets going from the beach, The main Street Running from Marmaris to Icmeler and within hotels premises. Most restaurants serve English Cuisine, but some sell Turkish, Italian, Chinese and Indian Cuisine aswell. Food in Turkey is very cheap it costs aound £2.50 for a main course but prices vary in each individual restaurant. The restaurants may have their own entertainment within them to keep you pleased and withih ...
