Advantages: Buzzing, relatively cheap Disadvantages: There are better places to go
...Last summer i went with a few mates to GranCanaria for a two week, post GCSE, sans parents holiday. We stayed in Playa de las Ingles (which is the place to be for nightlife)and had a brilliant laugh. the nightife is excellent, although not really up to Ibiza or Aya Napa, with places such as Linekers and cream the best of the bunch. It doesn't win any prizes for architecture, however, as it is a purely tourist centre. Head for the 'Kasbah' centre for the main nightlife. The weather is fantastic too...

Advantages: lovely scenary, nice beaches, nice hotel, plenty of places to eat and drink Disadvantages: none
...I went to GranCanaria in Jan 2000 with my boyfriend, ex now. It was to celebrate the millenium and my 20th Birthday.
We flew from Gatwick to Las Palmas airport in GranCanaria and we stayed in a resort right on the south of the island not far from Maspalomas, San Augustin and Playa De Ingels.
It took about an hour and a half from the airport to get to our hotel.
When we arrived at our hotel, we were shown to our room and it was a nice self catering apartment with a large balcony. We had lovely scenary all around us and when it was lit up at night it looked lovely.
We were fairly high up in the aparment about 80 ft above the sea and you could see into the town and the beach.
GranCanaria is based on volcanic rock and is very hilly.

We went at not a good time of the year because this is when they get...
