Ikaros Studios, Naxos

Advantages: Nice pool
Disadvantages: Poor food quality

...The Ikaros Hotel I am familier with in Zante, is in the resort of Laganas on the Main Kalamaki Road. Years ago the front bar area was very restaurant like, with clean table cloths, extensive menu, good food and service. There was occasional evening entertainment but not too intrusive if you wanted a fairly quiet evening. The pool is large and can fit plenty of people around it on the free sunbeds. Although I have not stayed in the hotel itself, its main reception is pleasently laid out, but I believe the majority of rooms are studios accomodating up to three people. The last time we visited this hotel, the restaurant felt more like a fast food joint, bare tables (which needed a good wipe) T.V's permenantly on, and poor food quality. Advantages: beautiful
Disadvantages: black beaches, expensive nightlife, coupely, a bit boring!!

...Santorini is a beautiful volcanic island located in the south Cyclades. It is easily accessible by inexpensive ferries from numerous other islands including Crete, Naxos, Paros and Ios. The main areas to stay in Santorini are the capital Thira and Kamari. Thira is quite hectic and is the preference of youths visiting for a short period of time to investigate the nightlife. Kamari, however, is a bit more laid back and I would say more pleasant. Although eating and drinking out is expensive in Santorini, accomodation prices are surprisingly reasonable - many studios with unsuite bathroom and pool go for around £12 per night per person. I would not recommend Santorini to those who want to spend their vacation lying on a beautiful sandy beach. ...Naxos is a great holiday destination for both families and couples. We arrived at Athens airport and got a bus to Rathina port to catch a high speed ferry over to Naxos. The ferry takes 2 and a half hours and is extremely comfortable and fast. The ferry costs approx 50 pounds for a return trip. I would recommend flying into Athens as there are more frequent cheaper flights than to Naxos. Naxos is a large Greek island and is an extremely friendly and relaxing place. There are very few English tourists and is a holiday destination for the Swedish, Dutch and Germans. The main port has many Tavernier and restaurants but hidden away behind the old castle walls are an abundance of family run restaurants which tend to be cheaper. The sea food is speciality of the island and is very reasonably priced. The beaches to the east of the island... Read review
