Il Desco offers highly creative cuisine made with a variety of the best ingredients the Veneto has to offer, with warm fresh-baked rolls and odd amuse-bouches such as olive-oil gelato with a tomato coulis. They tend to serve all meat dishes -- from venison with pearl onions to salmon on a bed of lentils -- extremely rare, so order it ben cotto (well done) if you want it cooked beyond merely flame-kissed. Some recent examples of the kitchen's rich creations include papardelle with sea snails, pork ravioli soup with shrimp, and stuffed pigeon and salt cod. Desserts are stupendous. Though the service is refined and the food of the highest quality, the inflated prices keep me from recommending it beyond a single star.
Advantages: Beautiful City, lots to see & do Disadvantages: None
...Walking around Verona in early June, there was a smell all over the city, not the smell of decaying rubbish as I experienced in my work trip to Naples, but the sweet smell of tree blossom, and Jasmine, even my hotel had Jasmine growing under the window!
I never really took to Shakespeare, at school I was more into war stories, and adventures, but Verona forever has the association with Romeo & Juliette, as you walk around the city, you will see plaques embedded in various walls with Shakespearean quotes.
*** Where is it? ***
Verona is in the Central Northern part of Italy
Built on a tight bend in the river Adige, it was easy to defend, as the water provided a natural barrier, also it was a natural crossing point. City walls were constructed to defend the rest of the city. The Romans had a major city here, complete...

Advantages: Culture, music and Shopping Disadvantages: Can't think of any except perhaps the crowds at Opera time
...OK, now I know this might not be everyones idea of a great night out but if you are in or around Verona between June and August you should really try it.
The Verona Opera Festival takes place every year in the open air arena in the centre of Verona this year its between 19th June and 31st August, they usually perform about 4 different operas on a rotating schedule, one of these is nearly always Aida. If thats a bit too high brow for you they also usually have one of the lighter operas such as Carmen on offer as well. The arena itself seats about 22,000 (no thats not a typo) when full which most nights it is. Unlike the atmosphere and cost of somewhere like Covent Garden, this is very much a people place. Tickets cost as little as 24Euros (thats about £17) for this you get to sit on the stone steps all the way round the arena...

Advantages: Good shopping, breathtaking scenery and much more Disadvantages: very hot
...Verona is a must see in your lifetime! There are many treasures to discover and the best way to do this is get lost! Well thats what my friend and I did and we actually saw a lot more than what we would have following a map! There are a few main streets that are great for shopping which are just round the corner from Juliette's house. The street is so picturesque and actually its a relief to be in because it is quite shady. And believe me in July teperatures are very very high and shade is necessary! The Arena in the main square is so big and beautiful as is the square itself, good for many a photo! I just regret not being able to stay the night and maybe a catch a performance! Juliette's balcony and house are also grea, just a little bit touristy, but still worth a picture just to say you have been there! The multitude of restaurants...
