During a recent holiday in Devon my famous partner and I had a good look around the north of the county. Barnstaple was just a few miles from our base in Ilfracombe. It is the biggest town in that part of the county with a busy shopping centre and it is famous for it’s huge pannier markets.
Our favourite place though, was just a short drive out of the town to the Dartington Crystal factory. Here is an account of our visit there

The Cork & Bottle is situated at the top end of Barnstaples' High Street, opposite the Primark Store.
It is a fairly old style pub with a friendly atmosphere.
The main bar is in the middle of the pub with seating all around.
There is a cocktail bar which opens on Thursday, Friday & Saturday Night. The Barman juggles Glasses & Bottles which is always entertaining.
There is a DJ in the evenings who plays mainstream dance music and requests
