I had the pleasure of staying at the Imperial for a couple of nights for a residential conference. The Imperial is part of the paramount chain, there are frequently special offers on their website www.paramount-hotels.co.uk. The usual discounter (laterooms, discount city hotels etc) can sometimes do deals on room rates. The rate I paid was a conference rate of about £50 per night but at the moment the Paramount website has Room only at £69, DBB at £143 per night The room rates increase as the season progresses.
It is actually quite difficult to find anything to criticise. My room was large and well apportioned, with a sea view and patio door onto the balcony with a tremendous view over the bay. I took some photos from the balcony to look at them they could have been taken on the South of France. Whilst the rooms are nice they are hotel rooms and don't particularly have a lot of character per se (the view makes up for it). The Imperial is a purpose built hotel so the rooms are purpose built. The furnishings are extremely good quality. The bathrooms are large and well equipped. The whole hotel, from public rooms to bedrooms is impeccably maintained and spotlessly clean.
The Food - Breakfast was outstanding, a hot and cold buffet. Plentiful, good qualitty, well prepared ingredients. The other meals were part of the conference package and were of a high standard. I could not fault either the taste, presentation or quality of the food.
The service provided by the staff was everything that one would expect from a Paramount hotel, I have stayed at other paramount hotels, the service has always been excellent. Nothing could be too much trouble for the staff.
I only had time to use the Sauna which I have to say was not particularly impressive. The Bar prices were on the high side, it seems that the greater the number of stars the higher the bar prices but it goes with the territory.
The thing that impressed me most was as I was leaving realising that I had just stayed in a luxury hotel.
