Advantages: Age, very interesting Disadvantages: Not that much to see!
...!) there are also various reliefs of the coats of arms of all of Maximilian's territories (far too many to mention!)
VERDICT:
The Goldenes Dachl and the museum which lies behind it are very interesting and the entrance fee is not bad considering you get an audioguide chucked in. However, unless you have an interest in or want to learn about Maximiliam I wouldn't necessarily reccommend going in. I loved it but I'm a historian (and therefore biased!). If you have the Innsbruck card anyway then definately go in. If you only had a day in Innsbruck I think that the time could be better spent, perhaps at the Imperial Church where Maximilian's incredible (empty) tomb lies or the ImperialPalace. Even if you don't go in to the museum, make sure that you see it, preferably on a sunny day so that thetiles glint and if you're lucky enough to have musicians...

Advantages: Wonderful, gorgeous scenery Disadvantages: Nightlife is pretty quiet

Sad but true, the best part of the exhibit was the gift shop, which contained a veritable shedload of all things crystal. Another housing contains a vast array of armoury and weapons - very nice.
There is also the Imperial Church and Palace in Innsbruck, but we didn't get the chance to visit these. Skiing is very popular and can be done all year round.

...Hofburg: Vienna
We decided on Vienna for our holiday last year mainly because of the musical connections with Mozart, Beethoven and Haydn.
Organisation and planning being in my nature (too much as my husband will say), I planned a detailed itinerary to maximise our limited time in Vienna. Of course a trip to the HofburgImperialPalace was one the main items on our agenda. I planned a day to visit the palace. How misguided could I have been. The Imperialpalace in the end took up three days of the holiday alone. It is vast. On my first visit I was astounded and in awe of the magnificent splendour of the exterior of the building and this astonishment was only increased as the opulence of the interior unfolded.
Potted History
Unlike other palaces, the Hofburg is not a single building erected on behalf of one monarch, but a collection...
