Having been to Vegas now on three occasions i would recommend the Imperial Palace on two fronts, firstly location secondly price. Our first trip was a package deal which included rooms at the MGM Grand, which was good for a first time visitor but at the far end of the renowed "strip", and therefore quite a walk (the "strip" for those of you who have never been is 6 miles long) Whereas thje Imperial; Palace is bang smack in the middle thereby making it easier to walk from resorthotel to resort hotel. The rooms at the Imperial palace are of standard fare, but we have always upgraded to a poolside room for two reasons 1/ you can simply walk up two flights of stairs to access them thereby missing out on the "slow" elevators 2/Your patio doors open out onto a private patio area right on the pool deck. The price of these rooms vary on a daily basis (as do all Vegas Room Rates) but the upgrade for a double deluxe room only cost us an extra 15 dollars a night from the normal rate all in for 14 nights our room bill was$940 which averaged out at $67 dollars a night. The hotel rooms were serviced on a daily basis by polite and helpful staff and were clean and comfortable. the Hotel complex in itself is dated and doesn't have the razz ma tazz of the bigger complex's but the biggest selling point has to be it's location. It is in the centre of all action that is available to you on the stip and downtown is what you want to see then its only a short bus ride away $2 dollars single to Freemount street. The Imperial Palace is also serviced by the mono rail service which whips you along the strip in double quick time with drop off points at most of the major resort hotels. The cost of the mono rail is a bit more expensive than the bus but you can purchased a ten way ticket taking each ride cost down to $3.
The restuarants available within the hotel (of which there are 9 ranging from burgers to al a carte fare)are again clean and you are served by friendly and efficient waiting staff the emperors buffet do a good breakfast, and an ok buffet for lunch and evening meals but the range and quality of eateries within easy travel distance is vast so i guess it's up to you. The hotel does have a Spa and beatuty salon which I havent used but other guests Ive spoken to say it is good and also the Auto collection if you are intersted in cars it has a collection of vintage and modern auto mobiles. The dealertainers are dealers who double as "kareoke" versions of various stars and make watching the tables a bit more interesting. You can arrange various trips i.e. Grand canyon/ Hoover Dam to name but two via the Hotels Booking service with pick up and return to the hotel, but better deals from these trips can be bought from street vendor stalls. All in all a great way to see Vegas and surrounding attractions at a reasonable cost. The only reason for a poor family rating is that it does not have the "family" attrations of Excalbur or circus circus which are the places to stay for a childrens holiday.
