Advantages: Quiet and well run Disadvantages: Quite far out of Seoul City

Getting to the airport from Seoul is not as easy as it was when the international terminal was at Gimpo (which is still the domestic airport), with the convenient subway link.
There are currently two main options for people without a car in Korea- a taxi or the airport bus. The train link wont open until 2005! Of the two, the airport bus is much cheaper, and very comfortable, but for people with a lot of luggage, a taxi is better.
The fare for the bus is about 6000Won, which is about 5US$. The bus routes operate from various 4 and 5 star hotels in the city or from Gimpo Airport, for those connceting from domestic to International flights, and takes from 45mins-2 hours depending on the traffic.
A taxi ( make sure you get a regular and not a deluxe!) takes a similar amount of time, but costs up to 65000Won or 50US$ You also have to pay the toll on the airport freeway- the driver asked us for the toll at the toll booth!
In the airport everything is still shiny and new, with a lot of signage and security guards around.
Airport tax is 15000W for non-Korean passport holders (they pay 25000Won inc tourism incentive tax!) and needs to be paid at a seperate booth, located in a few locations thoughout the departure area.
Passport control and security has always been fast and polite. There are the usual DFS and food outlets there, though the DFS in Korea is more aimed at people buying designer label goods than electronics. The gates are really spread out, and I think that if the airport was busy, it would take a while to get from Immigration to the far gates. Most major airlines also have their First and Business class lounges in a very central spot in the airport, which is handy.
All in all, it is a fantastic airport, light years a head of the old Gimpo.
Advantages: Modern, light, well-designed Disadvantages: Ummm, it's along way away, duty-frees are not so cheap
Incheon is a major improvement on the old Gimpo airport as a gateway to South Korea. Note: that is "Incheon" not "Inchon" They took the extra "E" so as not to bring back too many memories of the US landings during the Korean war in the 50s.
Incheon is busy, though not as busy as Heathrow, but--as you might expect from a new airport--everything works.
The overall layout allows easy flow of passengers through the building, with plenty of space for ... ...hours from scheduled landing at Incheon to departure at Gimpo.
On another internal flight, the story was the same, once you walk off the plane at Incheon, the bags are on the carousel within five to ten minutes, and you can easily spend that time getting through either immigration, or walking through the airport.
On the internal flight, I had four hours to kill before catching a return flight to Heathrow, and it was a pleasure to spend it at Incheon. ...

Advantages: Well signposted in Korean and English, a good sized airport Disadvantages: A very long 36 kilometres from Seoul, with little convenient public transport

The award winning Incheon International Airport, situated on Yeongjong Island to the west of Seoul, is the airport you are most likely to fly into when you are visiting South Korea. Although some of the airport is, to a great extent, a work in progress, the main passenger terminal is fully operational, and has been since 2001 and serves well over 50 international airlines, connecting the far flung corners of the globe. *****FACILITIES*******
... ...the form of The Incheon International Airport Railroad. Unfortunately that was no good for me in May 2006 which meant I was at the mercy of the other options.
You could get the free shuttle bus ( if you can catch one of the ten that run every day) to Airport Town Square, a brand new town a few kilometers from the actual airport consisting of restaurants, shops, hotels and residential accommodation. Or you could get a taxi into Incheon itself. In ...
