Great stay!
Review of Umaid Bhawan Hotel, Jaipur by travelhero

Advantages: family runed homely 3 star heritage hotel
Disadvantages: None

...Jaipur wanting a boutique hotel Umaid Bhawan is simply delightful. The exterior and interior of the hotel is restored to a very high level. The hotel is very clean and efficiently run with a friendly manner. I came on my own to Jaipur for business and stayed at the Umaid Bhawan for 7 days. I didn't have a single bad experience at the hotel. The swimming pool is fab and so perfect to cool off in at the end of a long hot day. So surprisingly for a ...

Is Your Girl A Goa?
Review of Inter-Continental Grand Resort Goa, Canacona by Vodkaboy

Advantages: quiet beach, nice pool, big room
Disadvantages: Long way from the airport, mediocre buffet

Ever since some friends of mine were raving about Goa, about ten years ago, I'd been wanting to visit. You see, many moons ago I might have liked the idea of being a trailblazer, a pioneer, travelling to places where visitors were rare and no souvenir shop had yet opened but now - with two destructive minimees, I don't even pretend to fancy myself as an explorer any more. Nope, we are no longer ever in the first boat to new territories - we wait ...
...loungers on the beach and a bar that sells a decent vodka! So, how did we finally end up in Goa? Well we were in the neighbourhood, so to speak, so decided to pop in. And we were enticed by a great offer! It was off season so we managed to get an unbeatable deal at the Intercon Resort - otherwise I would not stay at an Intercontinental (they annoyed me, big time, and I am sulking. But that is the subject for another story). Airport and getting there ... Read review

Lakeside View Please
Review of Resorte Marinha Dourada, Arpora by missydoc

Advantages: Friendly staff, very clean, cheap
Disadvantages: none

We have just returned from a 2week holiday in Goa staying at the surreal Marinha Dourada hotel in Arpora, Baga. This resort was highly recommended to us by a relative who travels to Goa every year and stays at this resort everytime. Having stayed there, I can see why they are regulars. When we were at the stage of booking our holiday we saw pictures of the resort and to be honest did not think too much of it. It showed some lakes, a few swimming ...
...read some reviews of holiday makers who had just returned from there and had complained about some building work taking place behind the resort. I emailed the resort and was reassured by the manager Edwin that it will not affect our holiday. Now this wasn't my first trip to India but was the first time to Goa and it is totally different. It is much cleaner, full of tourists, clean restaurants but slightly more expensive than the other major cities ... Read review

Indecent Staff, Pathetic Service
Review of Hotel Hillview, Munnar by Rams_Hyd

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Indecent staff, unacceptable behaviour, pathetic service, poor rooms with bad odour, horrible food

...my chest and seeked the hotel people for help in the late evening around 11+PM. The first time my wife called up, the attitude was very negative and simply the person in the front desk had disconnected the call. The next time, he gave us a misleading and wrong information that there are no doctors available, and there are no hospitals that work round the clock. We were new to Munnar, and not aware of the hospitals / doctors. This awareness is a ...
...When we came back to Hotel Hillview, to my unpleasant surprise, i found the Reservation Manager, wanting us to checkout immediately, when we had not seen Munnar at all. He initially admitted the fact that they provided wrong and misleading information and risking the guest's life there by. However, later when we requested that we wanted a day's stay more to look around Munnar, the behavior of the reservation manager turned unbearable. They charged ... Read review

Just right for a certain type of traveller.
Review of Kamat Holiday Homes, Calangute by hedgey

Advantages: Lovely staff, 2 swimming pools, free gym, great evening food and close to both shops and beach.
Disadvantages: Basic furniture, noisy air-conditioning units, poor breakfasts and quite busy area.

...a B&B deal at the Kamat complex in Calangute. Neither of us had been to India before and to be honest we expected the worst of our hotel - but from the moment our maniac taxi driver set us down outside, we loved it. It's not a hotel I would recommend unreservedly (many of the things that we found endearing, might well drive someone of different sensibilities quite mad). If your idea of the perfect hotel is something secreted away from the locals, ...
...patio) the guys at the Kamat really haven't mastered English brekkie yet. It would be better if they served Goan style breakfasts instead but in a desperate bid to please the tourists they serve up the same soggy toast, eggs and fatty bacon day after day. But there are plenty of opportunites to stuff yourself with great Goan food (and even traditional English fare) throughout Calangute - so you're unlikely to feel that hard done-by. The Kamat homes ... Read review
