The Taj Mahal - A Monument to Overeating
Advantages: Lots of food, very inexpensive Disadvantages: Ideal if your hungry - but too spicy if you're not
...forums and this was the Taj Mahal in the Abids district of the city. Heritage it might be but nobody seemed to be suggesting that the age made it any more special so I decided not to bother but along the way I learned that it was an independent hotel and not part of the famous Taj hotel chain. I recalled that someone who'd written about the hotel that we eventually chose (the Geetanjali) had said they'd used the restaurant at the Taj because ours ... ...Museum and I spotted the Taj Mahal and I remembered that it had been recommended. According to sites that I've checked since my return, it's one of the most popular vegetarian restaurants in the city and rather more famous for its food than for its accommodation.
It was just a block from our hotel and we'd wandered over to have a look after we got back from the museum to see if there was any prospect of getting a beer. We'd learned there was no ...

Going For An 'English' at Glenary's
Advantages: Lovely twee place Disadvantages: Not the greatest bakery products
Going for an English
Fans of the BBC's hit show 'Goodness Gracious Me' will no doubt recall the classic sketch where and Indian family go 'out for an English'. This is a classic example of 'Old England' transported direct to the Himalayas and it's popular with visitors both Indian and international.
A Darjeeling Must-Do
During our trip to Bhutan the week before we went to Darjeeling, we met an American lady of Indian origin who told us she had been to school in Darjeeling. We asked her for her top tips of things to do ...

Finding Treasure Island ~
This was my first visit to Treasure Island and I was really excited at the thought of visiting Hyderabad’s premier Club. Treasure Island also hosts concerts and we had tickets to see an Abba Revival Concert by the Group ‘Bjorn Again’ who were visiting India in December and the event was being held at Treasure Island. I had no idea where the Club was and was imagining a large commercial set up in the city, ...
