Advantages: Ease of travel/accomodations Disadvantages: overly aggresive drinkers

Indianapolis has done itself proud ... ...lovely, progressive city.
The "improvements" to the track to accomodate F-1 racing was no small engineering task, and while (to purists) it may not be a classic venue, as Monaco, Silverstone, or Monza, it was a fine effort and a job well done to make for interesting racing. Indianapolis has done itself proud in attracting and keeping high quality sporting events to a lovely, progressive city.

From what I have gathered from persons very closely associated with some of the teams that ran there, I did not hear any disparaging remarks that would give me an opinion that any teams would boycott further races held there.
If you have the abiity to visit Indianapolis during the F-1 or (Indy 500), try to go for the entire time (testing/qualification/race day). While there, I would highly recommend the Hyatt Hotel, as it is very comfortable, and most of the teams stay there as well. It makes for an interesting evening to be able to strike up a conversation(s) with many of the drivers and crews, and really develop a stronger feel as to the type of person(s) that they are. I predict that you will not be disappointed.
Advantages: Good race. Disadvantages: Not in Europe!
Having watched a fair bit of American motorsport, I can honestly say that I was very impressed with the American GP.
Most american motorsport looks tatty and ilmanaged, but the GP managed to convey pure professionalism, which was great both for the sport, and the UK, which hosts most of the GPO's teams.
The crowd where great, and there where no end of things happening to entertain the crowd.
I'll be booking myself a ticket for next years, I can ...

Advantages: Perhaps make for an exciting race Disadvantages: Boring - what does a bank-curve do?
Well, I think personally, bringing F1 to a semi-oval track with an infield section is a poor attempt by the FIA to bring back overtaking to F1. They have seen the wonderful overtaking manoeuvres and considered that bringing F1 to such a circuit might have the same effect. Pheonix wasn't too bad a circuit but I think Indianapolis was a bad choice. Malasya is the only new circuit that I am impressed with. Sorry, but Max Mosley and his posy have made ...

The idea of going back to america with F1 might be a good idea. However, i think that their choice of circuit was more for its name that anything else. Indionapolis, the home of american motorsports, the second most well know motorsport event in the world - the first being monaco - and last but not least, no place for F1. I feel that this is just a stunt to try and bridge the gap between english and american racing so that we will all eventualy end ... ...a crash for any kind of action. I know that the F1 track is only utilising 1/6th of the oval but i still think it is in the wrong place. Surely they could have looked at the cart series to find a better track. If the teams were looking at Montoya (good driver) for next season, surely they must have seen somthing better. ...

Review of Indianapolis, USA
Advantages: Exciting Race Disadvantages: The track is too dangerous for formula 1
After a 9 year absence grand prix racing will return to the USA. The track is on the site of where the indinapolis 500 is held, and uses one of the banked turns and the straight from that race in the grand prix track. The rest of the grand prix track is lots of short straights and slow corners. I honestly fear the worst when this grand prix happens, not because it will be dull, (in fact i think it will be very exciting) but because I fear a driver ... ...is because the cars will be running with minimum downforce, therefore when the cars reach the banking they could be running at 200mph, if a driver makes a mistake or the car has a mechanical failure, the driver could head straight into the wall (there is no gravel trap or tyres) at 200mph, and formula one cars are not designed to hit a wall at that speed. I am sure that the FIA has fully considered all of this, otherwise the track would not have ...

Advantages: It'll be interesting to see how it all works Disadvantages: If it's really bad it won't be interesting for long
In two weeks time Formula 1 returns to America after a break of about 9 years and boy are things going to be interesting. First of all let me reassure anyone worried that the race is going to be on the oval - it's not. It will use one of the corners but the majority of the track is in the infield section and is more like a standard F1 track. The official site, http://www.usgpindy.com/ has maps and even a computer generated lap of the track and a ...

For fine dining in Indianapolis (something of which I am familiar, but alas, not familiar enough for my tastes!), there are two restaurants that I can highly recommend. Beware, these are expensive restaurants.
--The Restaurant in the Canterbury Hotel--
This restaurant has a wonderfully romantic atmosphere. It is in a dark-paneled, relatively small room off the lobby of a quaint old hotel (old by American standards, anyway). There aren't more than dozen or so tables in the entire restaurant, so be sure to make a reservation. It has been the traditional place for me to take a small group of friends each year for Christmas; I always request (and get) the round table near the front. There is a small bar facing the street, so that you may see the horse and carriage traffic in front as ...

The next race is in 2 weeks time at the new Indianapolis circuit in the USA where all the teams and drivers will have a very short amount of time to learn the track and find the best set-ups for the high and low speed corners as well as the long straight. With only 3 races left and only 2 points separating Mika Hakkinen and Michael Schumacher the championship race will almost certainly go down to the last race in Sepang, Malaysia.
