The Ino Village Hotel is at the top of a very steep hill on the edge of Samos Town, which makes things a little difficult for anyone with mobility problems, although a taxi from the centre will only cost a couple of Euro and the receptionist is happy to call one for you if you can't even face the walk down the hill.

The rooms are featured around an attractive pool, with plenty of sunbeds available in shade or sun. The standard rooms are bright and spacious, but do not have a full sea view or air conditioning. Superior rooms have air conditioning (supplement for which is payable locally) TV, mini fridge and little extras like original paintings on the walls and attractive curtains etc. All rooms have good sized balconies.

The hotel is family run and has a very good atmosphere. Breakfast is the usual continental buffet, with seating either inside or outside on the vine covered terrace, which has fantastic views across the bay of Samos Town. Snacks are available through the day, but in the evening the terrace becomes a restaurant. Manolis the waiter runs around like roadrunner in his efforts to keep everyone happy, and although the menu is not extensive, it offers an excellent mix of traditional and more contemporary fare - eg a delicious rocket salad with figs and balsamic dressing, fresh perch in a spicy tomato sauce and spaghetti with prawns and ginger - all fabulous!

Dimitris holds court at the small bar and is a bit of a "nutter", but he will keep you entertained and your glass filled for as long as you can maintain the pace. He may challenge you to a game of Jenga or ask you to help with the washing up when he's busy - whatever his mood, he'll certainly keep you amused.

With a good mix of guests from the UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Greece, there's always a chance to make friends around the pool or bar and from Despina at reception, Dimitris at the bar, to Manolis in the restaurant, you will always feel welcome.

Samos Town is a steady walk down the hill, but you may find that you prefer to spend your evenings watching the lights of the town from the hotel terrace and getting to know your new found friends.

The hotel works with several European tour operators, but does not offer any deals for kids, therefore it is usually a good mix of singles and couples, with maybe a few families through the main summer season.
