Advantages: Weather And location Disadvantages: The smell
noticed about Cabo Wabo - it stunk like a sewer and we noticed a sewer close to the entrance (inside the club). Incredible - c'mon Sammy - gotta do something about this. Yikes!!! We always felt safe in Cabo, the locals spoke English pretty well, they were friendly and the locals all came from somewhere else. I didn't see anyone begging on the streets and the locals looked well fed. Cabo is a relatively "new" town and very few people actually come from Cabo. They come to Cabo to work and they come from all over their country. Cabo is a very expensive resort town and the tourists were pretty well-off financially and I didn't notice any riff-raff floating around. Since there are so many beautiful places to visit around the world, my policy is to never visit the same place twice. I liked Cabo alot but I won't be back. One additional recommendation ...
Advantages: Helpful staff, lovely bedrooms, mini-bus service into the centre Disadvantages: Not much in the local area, expensive, facilities not the best
(which had a view of the Acropolis) was marble effect floor rather than carpet, and had a sofa, glass coffee table with a couple of glossy Greek tourism magazines, and a writing desk and chair. There was also a kettle with Lipton teabags and Nescafe coffee sticks. There was air-conditioning but even on full blast it was still quite warm. On opening the window the room became a bit noisy. At least the blackout curtains kept the room darkened.
The Bathroom:
Very clean, but showing it's age a bit. There was a white fluffy bathrobe and slippers, which is always a plus point, bathroom scale (not so good!) and lovely Korres toiletries and a hygiene kit containing face pads, cotton buds and a mini sewing kit. It's nice to see that the Inter-Continental is using a natural, Greek brand. This consisted of Aloe and Soapwort shampoo, Achillea ...
Advantages: Nice Hotel, rooms cleanand located in centre of town, and cheap Disadvantages: Noisy, you can clearly hear bars and clubs till the small hours, food average
We stayed at the Mar de Cortez, February 2006. The rooms could be described as outdated, no television, kettle etc but large enough and probably about the cheapest you can get in Cabo! There is a pool, but while we were there it wasn't heated and water very cold. Major advantage of Mar de Cortez is it is in the centre of town, about five minutes walk to the Marina, good restaurants and bars etc. This is also a downfall, if you have an early rise, to go fishing etc. you will be aware of the loud noises coming from the clubs and bars that stay open until the early hours of the morning. The Mar de Cortez has a bar in it, but it wasn't very inviting, a good place to meet up before heading out somewhere else, and meeting up at the end of the night for a night cap. We tended to eat out of the hotel most of the time and only had breakfast in ...
