Tanger - very Moorish!

Advantages: Great for cheap shopping, good fun, an introduction to Africa
Disadvantages: Traders can "hassle", lots of begging

Though I say it myself, my feet are rather nice; no corns, not smelly and quite dainty. However, they are awfully itchy, an itch for which I can find no remedy. Here I am trying hard to save lots of money for a four month trip around the Black Sea next year when my feet decide to dip into the money (not literally - these mixed metaphors can be so unpleasant sometimes) and toddle off to Andalusia for a couple of weeks. There's only one thing harder to control than my itchy feet and that's my unrelenting curiosity. It never fails to get the better of me. I try to say no but panic starts to set in - what might I miss, will the chance ever arise again, what will happen if I don't give in to it, how soon will the regrets set in? It was in order to avoid all these questions that I made the crossing from Tarifa in southern Spain to Tanger ...

Review of Tanger (Morocco)

Athenaeum Luxury at the InterContinental

Advantages: Helpful staff, lovely bedrooms, mini-bus service into the centre
Disadvantages: Not much in the local area, expensive, facilities not the best

(which had a view of the Acropolis) was marble effect floor rather than carpet, and had a sofa, glass coffee table with a couple of glossy Greek tourism magazines, and a writing desk and chair. There was also a kettle with Lipton teabags and Nescafe coffee sticks. There was air-conditioning but even on full blast it was still quite warm. On opening the window the room became a bit noisy. At least the blackout curtains kept the room darkened. The Bathroom: Very clean, but showing it's age a bit. There was a white fluffy bathrobe and slippers, which is always a plus point, bathroom scale (not so good!) and lovely Korres toiletries and a hygiene kit containing face pads, cotton buds and a mini sewing kit. It's nice to see that the Inter-Continental is using a natural, Greek brand. This consisted of Aloe and Soapwort shampoo, Achillea ...

Do you lead an Intercontinental life? IC Park Lane London

Advantages: Great location. Excellent value for London. Brilliant service. Luxurious rooms!
Disadvantages: Still expensive as it's London!

So now that many of you will now have read one of my Asian hotel reviews I thought it was about time to write about some luxury closer to home. Something more of you can get to easier should my reviews be powerful enough to sway your decision! London has one of the largest selection of hotels in the world and choosing one is certainly very hit and miss. The so called luxury hotels in London can be just that or they can be very poor. Having experienced excellent service and properties in the Far East it was difficult to find a property to rival any of these closer to home until I discovered the Intercontinental Park Lane. After staying in a variety of different properties I finally discovered the IC and plumped up for a stay here. Since then I have not been to another hotel in the capital. It really has ticked all my boxes which is no ...
