International Drive used to finish at S.R.536 and Central Florida Greenway, which is a toll road. Now with a little zig zag maneuver across 536 and left onto 535, then immediately right, you can continue to International Drive South. This takes you to 192/Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy. This is so helpful because you can avoid interstate 4, if you wish.
What does International Drive have? Think of it and it is probably ... ...a night. Also on International Drive are timeshares. You may wish to purchase a week or two at one of these. This way you get to stay in an apartment, every year.
SeaWorld is just off of International Drive. A must for anyone. Great shows, rides, as well as the wonderful creatures.
Univeral Studios and Islands of Adventure ars just off of International Drive. Really well sign posted.
So where do I begin. Living just north of Tampa, my husband and I are always popping over to the Orlando area. We will actually be there again on Saturday for a week.

What does International Drive have? Think of it and it is probably there. So many hotels with a great price range. Find the coupon books and you could get a hotel for as little as $29 a night, for a family of 4. Then again you can stay in a beautiful hotel costing several hundred dollars a night. Also on International Drive are timeshares. You may wish to purchase a week or two at one of these. This way you get to stay in an apartment, every year.

How about Wet'n'Wild, this too is on the Drive, going north. Great for those really hot summer days.
Pointe Orlando is a great place to check out. There is a huge movie theatre there. Stores to check out, and they have a parking garage too. Yes, you do have to pay for it. Right next to it is Wonder Works, where your imagination can run wild.
Want some fun, then check out Ripley's Believe It or Not. Again on International Drive.
Plenty of miniture golf courses located up and down the road.
Restaurants galore. From individual pricey ones to chain restaurants. I would recommend TGI Fridays for a main meal, Golden Corral for a lunch buffet, really inexpensive and good. Dennys do a great 'Grand Slam', for breakfast, at just $2.99. 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, and 2 pancakes.
Another place to have fun is the Mercado. Plenty of free parking. Lots of shops, restaurants, an English pub. Expensive, but if you really want English beer, then you will pay for it. A huge food court. An open air concert every night. A bar located at each end of this area. Heard some great music here. Kids are welcome too. Also the Titanic exhibition is situated here. Haven't been, but have been told that it is worth a visit. They now have the Guinness World Records experience too.
Still haven't found what you are looking for, then why not do want I did. Take a helicopter ride. What a thrill. For about $25 you can hover over the magical world of Orlando Florida.
Buses run up and down International Drive all the time, so if you haven't a hire car, then there is no problem getting around.
If this is your first visit to Orlando, I would suggest staying on International Drive. Less driving and more to do in the evenings. We prefer to stay on 192, but know every inch of this tourist area.
If I can be of help to anyone. If you want a list of good hotels, other places to eat. More things to do, then please leave a comment for me. I will be very happy to go into more details.
Just remember that from now until October it will be very hot. 94 degrees today. Be prepared and take plenty of water wherever you go. Use lots of sunscreen. Factor 30 or 45. I would hate for anyone to get burned.
If you are buying food I would suggest Pulix supermarket, wonderful quality.
Thank you for taking the time to read, and have a happy and safe hoiday, in my neck of the woods.
Advantages: Interesting place to be Disadvantages: can be a bit pricey
...Town Orlando.
What is International Drive ?
It is the one of the Major Tourist road in the Orlando Area (Orange County), just about every major Hotel chain has one or more hotels on International Drive ( called I-Drive by the locals and regulars), in between these hotels there is to be found loads of souvenir shops, Chemists and Restaurants...mainly concentrated in the central area of I-Drive from Seaworld ( at the bottom end ) to Belz Factory ... ...miles between the two...
The Restaurants are really good family eating places with names like Sizzlers, Ponderosa, Denny's and our favourite 'Golden Coral' offer one price help yourself buffet Breakfast and Dinner dining at silly fixed prices like $3.99 for Breakfast and $8.99 for Steak and Shrimp Dinners all eat as much as you like.. The shops sell just about anything you need, and the chemists (Wallgreens) are 24 hours with the facility to transfer ...

Advantages: A great base from which to see the rest of the area Disadvantages: Starting to get a bit touristy
I have stayed on I-Drive for 8 years running, at 3 different hotels. There is a good price range of hotels here from cheap and basic to very very luxurious - depending on which end you stay at! The North end is the cheaper and closer to Universal Studios, Belz Outlets etc. The Southern end is becoming very much the business class as it is close to the massive conference centre complex.
I prefer to stay in the central part, where all parks and amenities ... ...Oasis!
Since we first went there in the early 90's, the area has grown and grown. There are now lots of hotels and apartments on roads parallel to I-Drive, close enough to enjoy the amenities but not actually on the main drive.
For kids - try Chuckie Cheese, I don't know a single young (2-10) kid who doesn't love it. Great Pizzas, lots of climbing around and then collecting as many tickets as your pockets can hold from playing games and swapping ...

...will be going back to International Drive, Orlando for the 3rd time.
Why do I keep going back? Well I feel it's the most wonderful place, I go mostly for the Theme parks, but aside from that there is plenty to see and do.
Gator world, Numerous water parks, Malls, factory outlets, I can't list them all as it's endless. Every turn you make you'l discover something new.
Along with daytime activities there are plenty of places to eat ranging from ... ...of course with the buffet being in the middle)
It's very good value for money and an average meal course with buffet costs around $10-15.
Unlike this country the theme parks are very well set out and have great access for wheelchairs and pushchairs. All in all I think this is a great destination one not to be missed!!
The budget part is variable as per day per person you could get by on $20-30, but if you are buying lots of thing obviously this ...

Advantages: It has everything you need Disadvantages: Its so far away!!
Right, International Drive, or I-Drive (as it has become known to some), is the main street in Orlando's 'tourist' district, and has pretty much everything a family would need on a vacation to sunny Florida. There are hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, gift shops, minigolf, karting, fast food outlets (including the world biggest McD's), a huge shopping mall complex, cinemas, and the coolest gaming arcade. For those who don't want to hire a car, there ... ...CityWalk. Clubs-a-plenty, restaurants and a huge cinema (the only problem is, you can't take the kids!). And if i remember rightly, a taxi back to I-Drive costs about $12.00...
What better place to spend some time in the sunshine, than in the place that has everything you need. International Drive. ...

Advantages: everky kind of place where you would wont to eat Disadvantages: busy
International Drive is a great place to stay on. It is 1 Mile long and a street full of places to eat , things to do and hotels. There is evey kind of restaurant on the Drive like Dennys Diner, Sizzers, Buger King , Macdonadls, Uno (steak house), and lots more . But if you dont like Blackpool, this is probably not the right place to stay. Its just like Blackpoo,l but a lot cleaner and much hotter. It's very busy with lots of cars driving about ,and ...

Advantages: near all eating places , good value, free shuttle, to all theme parks, good place for gifts Disadvantages: none
The travelodge we stayed in or 3 weeks was just 2 minutes from wet and wild which was good if you didnt want to go to the theme parks.
when we got to our room we had found we had a fridge for those cold drinks and anything else you want to put in. We also had a microwave and a safe in the room which was really good to keep all our safe belongings in. The bathroom was very spacious it had the shower over the bath we had clean towels nearly every other day and a coffee maker and tv was in the room too . The air conditioning in the room was good with the weather been hot all the time.
we found out when we looked near the tv guide there was coupons that we could use on internationaldrive like resturant vouchers or places to go like helicopter rides and other places to see and do .
you could get free shuttle busses every morning ...
Advantages: Slap bang in the middle of International Drive, very family friendly, great pool Disadvantages: Ground floor rooms around the pool are slightly smaller and older looking
were always cleaned to a high standard. The bedding was changed every 2 or 3 days.
The hotel is in the heart of International-Drive, with all the shops, restaurants and attractions that it has to offer, and the trolley bus that runs up and down I-Drive stops virtually outside the hotel. The hotel also runs free transport to and from the major theme parks if you dont want to drive. Wet 'n' Wild Water park is literally a five minute walk down the road, and Universal is no more than a five minute drive away. We could see Universal Studios theme park from our hotel window. In the other direction Seaworld is about a 10 minute drive and all the Disney Parks are about 15-20 minutes away by car. You really dont need to hire a car if you are staying on InternationalDrive and intend to just do the parks. We hired one as we wanted to venture ...
