Inverness as a place to visit
Review of Inverness (Scotland) by kb277

Advantages: Plenty activities, good nightlife at weekends, safe, scenic,
Disadvantages: weekday evening entertainment can be a bit poor,

...i will be biased about inverness due to my living here for my (i would say entire life but take a couple of years out where i lived in other places like aberdeen, tain and the like) life. however i have been to most major cities in the uk along with plenty of small villages and towns too. i will give you as accurate a description and opinion as i possibly can on the town/city (as it is now). Inverness is currently undergoing a major re-development ...
...pleasing to the eye(s). Inverness is in fact the fastest growing city in europe and is still nicknamed Tesco town by the locals. Due to Tesco holding the largest number of stores in the city boundaries. The largest one being at the inverness business and retail park which is open 24/7 so shopping for random bits n pieces is never an issue. the rest of the retail park consists of boots, a multiplex vue cinema (7 screens i think) pizza hut, burger ... ...people we met were lovely! Bunchrew is a family owned business, and the fellow we met called "Tony"is the owner, couldn't have been more pleasant and friendly, and went out of his way to make sure we were happy and settled in our caravan, and made sure we had everything we needed. The only thing we did need were extra duvets and pillows, which we were sent within 10minutes by the one site maids. You could often see Tony at all hours of the day and night ... Paradise Found!
Review of Sandwood Bay by micksheff

Advantages: Fantastic Unspoilt Scenery
Disadvantages: Difficult To Get There

...that I set eyes upon Sandwood Bay. Think of Britain's finest Beaches and you will probably think of Cornwall with its fine sandy Bays and crashing waves that roll in from the Atlantic and turn it into the Surfer's Paradise that it is renown for. Think again, and think about Sutherland 600 miles to the North. Sutherland has many fantastic Beaches which are rivalled in Europe only by those on Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides. Geographically ...
...of the Beaches in Britain Sandwood Bay is the finest of them all. WHAT MAKES IT SO SPECIAL? There are many things that make Sandwood Bay such a magnificent place. Firstly the Bay stretches for almost two miles and is composed of the finest golden brown coloured sand. Secondly even on the hottest day in mid Summer the place is completely deserted. I have been here many times and the most people I have ever seen is nine (yes nine!), which if you ... Read review

The Most Beautiful Glen In Scotland!
Review of Glen Affric by micksheff

Advantages: Fantastic Scenery, Lots Of Wildlife
Disadvantages: The Midges, Difficult To Get To

Glen Affric has been described by many writers of Scottish Books as "the most beautiful Glen in Scotland." It is a place that I have visited many times and having seen this place at first hand and also many other Glens in Scotland I will not try and dispute this claim. THE LOCATION Glen Affric lies on the A831 just 24 miles to the West of Inverness, 15 miles from Drumnadrochit, and 65 miles to the East of Fort William. GLEN AFFRIC Access to Glen ...
...along this same route. Glen Affric is an example of one of the largest surviving natural Pine Forests in Britain. These Woodlands form part of the Caledonian Forest which once stretched right across this part of Scotland from Inverness on the East Coast to Fort William on the West. It is a unique habitat supporting many examples of Fauna and Flora that is found nowhere else in Britain. The Forest that remains today is only about 1% of its original ... Read review

Smoo Cave - A Strange Name But A Beautiful Place!
Review of Smoo Cave, Durness, Sutherland by micksheff

Advantages: Free, An Eye Opening Experience
Disadvantages: Not Suitable For Anybody Unsteady On Their Feet

Smoo Cave lies on the top North West Coast of Scotland about a mile East of the Village of Durness. It is the largest Sea Cave in the British Isles and has proved a popular Tourist attraction since Sir Walter Scott visited the area in 1814. I visited this place a few years ago and had a thoroughly enjoyable time, hence my reason for making it the subject of my latest review. VISITING SMOO CAVE The Cave is set amongst one of the most dramatic Coastlines ...
...Road but we walked to Smoo Cave from Durness Village which is a pleasant walk up a long incline. Access to the Cave itself is via a set of very steep wooden steps that wind down the hillside to the Sea so unfortunately a visit here would not be suitable for the disabled or anyone who is unsteady on their feet. At the bottom of these steps it is then necessary to cross a shallow bit of the Sea itself, this is only possible at low tide so it worth ... Read review
