Advantages: Clean hotel, 24 hour pizza and bar Disadvantages: out of town
Having never been to Corfu before me and 7 other friends took the plunge and decided to book a last minute holiday in Kavos with Thomas Cook. We selected the IonianSeaViewHotel which is located in Aspro Kavos, about 15 minutes walk from the town centre.
The hotel itself was basic but very clean. The rooms came with bathroom (shower, bath, toilet, sink), beds, dressing table, small kitchen, fridge and balcony. The kitchen was hidden away in a cupboard like thing, it had 2 hobs and a sink. Quilts were provided for the bed but we never needed them as it was so hot. Air Conditioning is also available to hire but we didn't bother.
The hotel also had 2 pool tables and a table tennis table (which had seen better days) but never the less provided some entertainment whilst we waited to go out.
The pool was smallish but very clean ...
Advantages: "We joined the navy to see the world?." Disadvantages: "And what did we see? We saw the sea." (Irving Berlin)
? where?s the grandeur or subtlety in that? Beaches need props or surrounding scenery to make them interesting: sea life or rocky outcrops on the foreshore, a backdrop of tangled vegetation or steep slopes behind. The best of all beaches nestle in coves, and you have to pick your way down to them by steep footpaths, catching views from different angles as you descend. A family favourite of ours for many years was Druidston Haven in Dyfed, which has a small hotel of great character on the clifftop at which to stay, but no other ...
Advantages: Lovely view, Good location, 24 hour pizza! Disadvantages: A 3 course meal was 12EUR and a pint of Coke was 4EUR. Hmm!
IonianSeaView Aparthotel is a brilliant location for young people to go and have fun.
After landing you are only 40mins from the airport, and the holiday reps have just enough time to brief you on your stay. On arrival the first thing we noticed were the beautiful gardens surrounding the apartments. As it was at night the lanterns were lit and we could see the pretty surroundings. The hotel is right on the coast and boasts great views of the Greek mainland and Paxos.
As it was roasting - even at night I ventured tot he 24 hour reception/bar to buy us some drinks. For a pint of Coke it was 4EUR! I found that amazingly pricey. I had grabbed 10EUr on my way to the bar, and told the bar man I'd owe him the extra 2EUR - which being the friendly soul he was he said not to bother. All of the staff were wonderful, if you were ...
