Ionian Sea View Aparthotel is a brilliant location for young people to go and have fun.
After landing you are only 40mins from the airport, and the holiday reps have just enough time to brief you on your stay. On arrival the first thing we noticed were the beautiful gardens surrounding the apartments. As it was at night the lanterns were lit and we could see the pretty surroundings. The hotel is right on the coast and boasts great views of the Greek mainland and Paxos.
As it was roasting - even at night I ventured tot he 24 hour reception/bar to buy us some drinks. For a pint of Coke it was 4EUR! I found that amazingly pricey. I had grabbed 10EUr on my way to the bar, and told the bar man I'd owe him the extra 2EUR - which being the friendly soul he was he said not to bother. All of the staff were wonderful, if you were sitting in the lounge they would join you; you stroll in at 4am and they make you any pizza you want and give you a choice of DVDs to watch; they turn the restaurant music up at your request! And
also, when we left there were cuddles and welled-up eyes! You are welcomed with open arms.
Taking the drinks back to the room we unpacked the essentials and settled down. As we were there due to the cheaper price, there was no air conditioning which I must add - if you are sober it is a bit uncomfortable!
Next day by the pool we chilled out before the meeting with the rep. There is a large pool which was kept very clean throughout the full stay. There were also public toilets next to the pool, and I was surprised at how well kept they were. There were plenty of sun loungers spread around the pool, and also on a lower level down by the sea (the hotel is on the coast). From that lower level you could step down onto a small jetty and go into the sea - the water is very shallow. They also offered water sports which looked brilliant; I didn't actually try them out. My friend did and said it was brilliant - I believe it was 20 EUR. They had windsurfing, para-gliding or inflatable rings pulled by the speedboat! Quad bikes were also on sale at the end of the road that the hotel was on - about 25 yards away.
The hotel restaurant was very well priced with 3 course meal offers for 12EUR and the food tasted beautiful. The pool bar also offered loads of snacks - from a full English breakfast to toasties and sandwiches. Drinks were around 4EUR for cocktails and on happy hour it was buy one get one free.
There was also a gift shop and mini-market on campus which sold everything from toiletries, food, washing up products to inflatable lilos, magazines and key rings! Everything was well priced apart from the Coke - again! As you can't drink the water, 6 large bottles of water were 2EUR which lasted us fine!
The room had a double bed and a single bed, dressing table, and three bed-side cabinets and a large wardrobe. There was plenty of floor space within the room; only problem was no air conditioning which was rather uncomfortable for the first night. There was a small kitchenette with 4 cooking rings, fridge/freezer (although the freezer badly needed defrosted but we couldn't be bothered. No ice for us.), sink, kettle, and cupboard/shelve space. We had brought loads of pot noodles and packeted pasta to eat while we were there during the day. The kitchen was very small but it was suitable for our kind of stay.
The bathroom had a toilet, sink and bathtub with shower. No shower curtain, but a nice hole in the floor for the sprayed water to go down! It was rather swamped after each shower, but being young we just laughed at it. Toilet was basic, not very pretty but the maids scrubbed it up well. Maid service and towel changes were frequent so we never felt the place was dirty. Unless we dirtied it! We had a porch at the front as we were on a ground floor apartment. There were only 2 chairs for the table - but whether or not someone nicked the other one or not we will never know! We sat on the porch everyday with a drink; it was nice and shaded and was positioned perfectly for a view over the sea. And we could walk over the grass a few yards and look onto the pool, so we were only 5mins away from the pool.
Our holiday rep sold us the Sandstorm package for 100EUR and that included some fantastic excursions. We had a day at the water park which was fantastic - flumes flumes and more flumes! Oh, and fantastic hot dogs!
We went to a VIP Old Skool Disco in the night club LimeLites - which boasted a free bar for 2 hours, party games, and access straight onto the beach. LimeLites has an indoor nightclub which resembles a spaceship inside (!) and the outdoor is a massive seating area made from logs and tree trunks with a massive tent over the top. Luckily it was open at the edges so it was nice and cool.
LimeLites also hosted the final night party with DJ Sonique, who I was lucky enough to meet and stand in the DJ box with - she put on a fantastic performance, and then we all had free entry into the indoor club.
The famous pub crawls were also included, and most pubs were happy to offer free drinks to anyone, regardless. The best pubs to check out are The Barn, Edelweiss, Empire & Rocky's. Best club was by far LimeLites but Futures also offered a wonderful party - until 5am! The pub Edelweiss is by far the best out of them all - the staff were hilarious and always gave free drinks, club passes, CDsT shirts etc and really knew how to show you a good time - we even persuaded the full pub crawl to divert to Edelweiss - Claire the rep wasn't amused (at first, she then realized it was a super place!)
Kavos is definitely the best young person's holiday I have been on - everything is just wonderful!

Even though the British Isles boast the most islands worldwide, Greece is my no.1 favourite holiday destination, its certainly Europe's most beutiful country anyway to me. Welcome to ciao.
