Having never been to Corfu before me and 7 other friends took the plunge and decided to book a last minute holiday in Kavos with Thomas Cook. We selected the Ionian Sea View Hotel which is located in Aspro Kavos, about 15 minutes walk from the town centre.

The hotel itself was basic but very clean. The rooms came with bathroom (shower, bath, toilet, sink), beds, dressing table, small kitchen, fridge and balcony. The kitchen was hidden away in a cupboard like thing, it had 2 hobs and a sink. Quilts were provided for the bed but we never needed them as it was so hot. Air Conditioning is also available to hire but we didn't bother.
The hotel also had 2 pool tables and a table tennis table (which had seen better days) but never the less provided some entertainment whilst we waited to go out.
The pool was smallish but very clean and had a variety of floats and balls for us to play with. There was also a pool bar which provided a variety of drinks as well as food...an english breakfast was often a welcome thing on poolside after a heavy night out! The pool bar was quite pricey however. The hotel also provided internet access via 2 computers, it was about 50c for 7 minutes, 24 hour pizzas were also available from reception as well as it being a 24 hour bar. Films were shown most nights on the wide screen tv in the reception area. The hotel also has its own supermarket which is reasonably priced, however they don't really like you shopping at other supermarkets so be discreet if and when you do this!
The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from town, but after a night out get a taxi home, it costs around 7 euros and is much safer! On the way into town you pass several bars, one was the layby taverna who has a friendly bar man (cant remember his name but his nickname was mika) he managed to get us quad hire on the cheap for a day however he soon became a problem as everytime we passed the bar he horrassed us to go in for a drink. My recommendation would be try not to become to friendly with him.
I ate out most nights as it was reasonably priced for food and couldnt be bothered cooking on holiday. I can recommend the mexican restaurant in the centre of town, the prices are very very reasonable and the portions and quality of food is amazing.
Most of the bars and clubs are open air which is amazing. On our first night we went on a pubcrawl organised by the reps, this was about 10 euros but you got a free t-shirt and free drinks and shots etc. This is a good idea as it helps you get to know the various places for the rest of the week.
Buzz bar and tango were very good, drinks in town are fairly cheap the favoured drinks being cocktails.
At night you may experience the kerfu, this is when the lights and music in the club goes off and the police drive up and down the strip. This doesn't last long but is quite amusing.

We also hired quads for a day and toured round corfu, there wasnt much to see but it was a good laugh.
There are also banana boats etc available at Aspro Kavos, can't remember prices but it's a proper water centre. The beach isn't too nice but if you walk further down to the main beach it is.

Theres lots of bars and lots of things to do, the weather was glorious and we had am immense holiday. I would recommend kavos to anyone who likes a loud holiday, probably 18 to 30 as the youngest of us was 19 and the oldest 27.
Corfu as an island is slightly run down but if you are just looking for hot weather, sun bathing and lots of clubbing and good times kavos is the place to go.

Oh and the takeaways are no where near as good as english ones!
