Advantages: Beautiful beaches Disadvantages: Not good roads and fairly great distances
...I travelled to Kefalonia in July 2005. I stayed in Argostoli, the capital of the island, which at first disapointed me because I expected it to be more beautiful. On the other hand the good thing about Argostoli was that it was a live city, with many restaurants and bars, which could satisfy a wide variety of tastes.
Nevertheless the reason why I would recommend Kefalonia is its beautiful beaches. I enjoyed practically all te beaches I went to. All of them have magnificent colour of waters and most of them offer a satisfactory range of facilities. The best one is defenatly the beach of Myrtos but I recommend as well the less known beach of Antisamos as well as the Makrys Gyalos beach which is quite near to Argostoli.
The last but not least thing about Kefalonia I would like to add is the quality of most restaurants that I tried in quite...

Advantages: picture perfect island, stunning beaches backed by beautiful mountains Disadvantages: not many, some hairy roads up in the mountains! can get very hot.
...i visited kefalonia in 2002 with my husband for a week, it was a last minute deal, but i'm glad we got the chance to see this wonderful place.
We stayed in a quiet village called trapezaki, but it was beautiful, the sea crystal clear, and beach very clean. i never read the book captain correli's mandolin before i came to the island, but i did as soon as i got home, i think visiting the island helps to appriciate the book more.
There is such a lot to see and do, it's worth hiring a car and doing it at your own pace, if you are confident on the roads!! if not, the coach trips are really interesting, as you get to find out the history of the island.
If your looking for a faliraki type holiday, then dont go to kefalonia! however, if you appriciate the beauty of a island, and are looking for a memorable holiday, then kefalonia is the place....

...Kefalonia is by far Greece's best kept secret!!
It is a beautiful, unspoilt island. Not as tourist orientated as the other Greek islands, it offers the best of Greece. Absolutely beautiful beaches with the whitest sand and bluest sea you can ever imagine.
The beaches in Lassi were by far my favourite with a great variety of watersports on offer as well as beach bars with great food.
Nightlife is not it's best attraction with few nightclubs on offer but there's a great variety of bars and cafes in all its towns, some with live music and traditional Greek nights, others with DJ's.
If you're looking for a relaxing holiday and lovely sight seeing, Kefalonia is definatly the place to go to.
Tourists are greeted with open arms and it really is a very good place to relax!...
