Knightbrook hotel - extremely poor service in beautiful surrounds

Advantages: Nice lobby and a quiet bar
Disadvantages: poor service, unclean, arrogant staff, noisy

I went for a romantic weekend break with my partner to this hotel and came home extremely disappointed and tired. Greetings were less than polite on arrival as there was more concern with those that were in the hotel to dine for an evening function our room was located above the main function room. When I telephoned down to ask when it would be over - I was told it would finish around 3am. The receptionist then hung up the phone and I had to phone ...
...moved to a room that was not entirely clean and was two single beds. By this time it mattered not that there were single beds. That night we had a meal in the hotel, it was part of a deal that was offered and it was a very long wait with the wrong order being brought (nothing to do with my accent as I am also Irish) and a side order that had been ordered not arriving but however it was not forgotten in the bill. The second night we were moved to ...

Bella Vista best hotel in Cobh, Ireland

Advantages: In the centre to cobh with excellent veiws
Disadvantages: On the Hill

...an excellent stay in the Bella Vista Hotel. This had already been recommended by other family members. On arriving we were shown straight to our room which was very large room with large ensuite bathroom inc shower and soaps and shampoo. Double bed had ample blankets there was also a large wardrobe for hanging clothes. The room was cleaned to a very high standard. Included in the room was coffee making facilities information book with everything ...
...the facilities of the hotel. On two occasions I required help with breakfast information and for additional coffee these were bought to me immediately without question. In the morning we received a large full breakfast cooked perfectly with toast coffee orange and there was a full range of condiments and other breakfast choices. The veiws from this hotel were stunning across the sea and to the left the cathedral. The people in this town were ...

Good homecooked food

Advantages: Good food, location
Disadvantages: Noise at weekends from disco

The Ashburn Hotel is situated in William Street in Lurgan and has been family owned by the McConaghy's for over 30 years. It is a couple of minutes from the M1 motorway, so is perfect for travellers looking a stop off hotel. It is also situated beside the train station, which has links to Belfast, Newry and Dublin. The hotel has 12 bedrooms and underwent a major refurbishment a couple of years ago. Rooms are very basic, but clean and quite reasonable ...
...of the hotel, which is good as the street out the front is very busy and it is not recommended to park your car there at the weekends as the Burn Niteclub adjoins the hotel. The food is the real winner in the hotel. Good home-cooked meals a reasonable prices. If you want haute-cuisine, then this place is not recommended for you. Personal favourite of mine is the cajun chicken pitta pockets with garlic fries. Be warned though, the portions are big!! ...

Two Star Mediocrity at 4 star prices,Killyhevlin

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Overpriced,mis-classiffied, mediocre

...this review helpful Booked the killyhevlin because it claimed to be a four star hotel. What a let down. The Killyhevlin is tatty, outdated hotel. The foyer was a warning , adorned as it was with fruit machines! The carpet in the wing in which our room was situated was stained and dirty. The room was poorly furnished with scratched and damaged cheap furniture that would have looked cheap even when it was new, which I'm guessing was in the 80's. The ...
...there. All in all the Killyhevlin is a downbeat 2 star roadhouse/motel badly in need of modernization and a damm good cleaning and certainly desperatley in need of some trained professional waiting staff. If you want to pay £70 per person per night sharing for mediocrity and a "couldn't give a care" attitude, then this is the place for you. The hotel has been given 4 stars by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, either their inspector is related ...

Travelodge (not quite next to) Dublin Airport Ballymun

Advantages: cheap, clean, comfortable, what you would expect
Disadvantages: not that close to the airport, receptionist ignored us

...decorated in quite a generic Travelodge way. I have stayed in other Travelodge hotels and they all seem to have the same room décor. There were two large mirrors on the wall, a desk, a table and chair, a large wardrobe, three bedside tables and bed side lights. The room was painted a cream colour and had cream coloured curtains and the colour made the room look very light and clean. There was some pictures on the wall which seemed a nice touch too, ...
...was a flat screen tv on the desk, wonderfully positioned so that we could watch tv in bed! There was also a mini kettle, two cups and a selection of tea and coffee in the room, which was a nice touch as we definitely needed some coffee to get us going when we got up early the next morning. The bed was really comfy and had a nice, firm mattress. The only problem I had with our nights sleep was that we could hear noise from the street outside as we ...
