The Heritage is no Hermitage
Advantages: Excellent venue, great service and good value if you get the right deal! Disadvantages: None - except distance from home!
...should be allowed to enjoy the finer things of life, and The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort proved to be one of them.
( I am the other, and she has been very privileged to enjoy me for decades!! )
I felt it was right to take my beloved on a special package to Killenard for two reasons.
Firstly, she had just arrived at pensionable age and it seemed a good way to celebrate her 60th - ( I, as her toyboy, do have a number of years to pension age as my ... ...look a gift horse in the mouth!! - (which I believe has something to do with the age of an old nag!)
So here is the steamy tale.!
1 Location.
The hotel is located in Killenard.
What do you mean - "where on earth is that?" ?
If you are still on the horse theme, it is quite close to the Curragh.
Basically, you head out of Dublin on the Naas road, keep going in the direction of Portlaoise, telling your passenger that her surprise destination is ...

Two Star Mediocrity at 4 star prices,Killyhevlin
Advantages: None Disadvantages: Overpriced,mis-classiffied, mediocre
...this review helpful
Booked the killyhevlin because it claimed to be a four star hotel. What a let down. The Killyhevlin is tatty, outdated hotel. The foyer was a warning , adorned as it was with fruit machines! The carpet in the wing in which our room was situated was stained and dirty. The room was poorly furnished with scratched and damaged cheap furniture that would have looked cheap even when it was new, which I'm guessing was in the 80's. The ... ...there.
All in all the Killyhevlin is a downbeat 2 star roadhouse/motel badly in need of modernization and a damm good cleaning and certainly desperatley in need of some trained professional waiting staff. If you want to pay £70 per person per night sharing for mediocrity and a "couldn't give a care" attitude, then this is the place for you.
The hotel has been given 4 stars by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, either their inspector is related ...

Travelodge (not quite next to) Dublin Airport Ballymun
Advantages: cheap, clean, comfortable, what you would expect Disadvantages: not that close to the airport, receptionist ignored us
...decorated in quite a generic Travelodge way. I have stayed in other Travelodge hotels and they all seem to have the same room décor. There were two large mirrors on the wall, a desk, a table and chair, a large wardrobe, three bedside tables and bed side lights. The room was painted a cream colour and had cream coloured curtains and the colour made the room look very light and clean. There was some pictures on the wall which seemed a nice touch too, ... ...was a flat screen tv on the desk, wonderfully positioned so that we could watch tv in bed! There was also a mini kettle, two cups and a selection of tea and coffee in the room, which was a nice touch as we definitely needed some coffee to get us going when we got up early the next morning. The bed was really comfy and had a nice, firm mattress. The only problem I had with our nights sleep was that we could hear noise from the street outside as we ...

A Peaceful Retreat in Ireland.
Advantages: Large 3 bedroomed cabin in a peaceful lakeside location. Disadvantages: Car needed.
Rahans Lake Lodge can be found on a number of websites for accommodation in Ireland; it is a lovely cabin located in a tranquil location by Rahans Lake, near Carickmacross in County Monaghan in Southern Ireland.
The cabin is very clean and has everything you need for a self catering holiday. The photos on the websites accurately dictate all aspects of the cabin. We stayed there for a week from the 20th to the 28th of July 2009 and found everything ... ...do.
On first inspection, Rahans Lake Lodge is a fairly new building and is extremely well looked after. We entered through the front door which leads straight into the kitchen/living room, which is well laid out with a lovely high ceiling. The first thing that struck me was the fresh smell of natural wood. There are two large windows in this room and the double doors, both at the front and rear, have a window each as well. So plenty of light. The ...

A wonderful week away
Advantages: Nice hotel in a brilliant location Disadvantages: Quite expensive.
The Marriott Druids Glen hotel is a wonderful place to stay when visiting Ireland and I would recommend it to anyone if they are seeking a quiet, peaceful holiday. The location is wonderful, with views of the sea and mountains, it was a dream location and one that I will never forget. Check-in was simple and easy and all of the staff were friendly and happy to help in whatever way that they could. All of my details were right and I was quickly given ... ...clean. The bathroom had the usual toiletries, which were of a good quality, although a couple more would have been good considering it was a 2 Queen bed room sleeping three. The hotel was quiet, and although it appeared as though occupancy rates were high the hotel didn't feel overcrowded or cramped. The hotel also has a golf course and although I am not a golfer myself it looked like a good course! The hotel is fairly spread out, although not massive, ...
