Located southeast off the tip of Florida is a little US commonwealth called Puerto Rico. It is known to its inhabitants as the ?Isladel Encanto? or the Island of Enchantment. I personally lived there for three years and was looking forward to my first visit in eight years. Like so many things I found that many things had changed but some things about Puerto Rico will never change.
Getting There
If you are coming from the US or Europe you will most likely be coming in on American Airlines though Continental, Delta and Iberia also serve this island. You will arrive in the Luis Muñoz Marin airport. This airport has been recently modified and is quite modern despite its small number of gates. Advantages: Relaxing escape, stone's throw from Panama City Disadvantages: No atmospheric beachside bar to enjoy a beer at sunset
Isla Taboga is a lovely little island just half an hour from Panama City's Harbour. It's quite small, and not touristy. Just a little town, surrounded by water with a great view of the Panama City skyline! A great place to visit for a day if you're in the City and want an easy escape. Take a book and some snacks, or grab a bite at one of the local eateries, and just enjoy the white sand beach and calm warm waters.
It's now $11 return by boat, which leaves from the Amador Causeway - pay no more than $5 by taxi from the City!
The island itself is an array of small streets and hidden paths and steps, leading up and around the packed little houses of the town. It has a small church in the middle, which is supposedly the second oldest church in the Western Hemisphere. It also has an art centre / community project in construction ...
Advantages: Friendly town with lots to do, a lovely holiday. Disadvantages: If you steer clear of the 'English Bars' there are none

As members of a vacation club ( it was then Sunterra now Diamon Resorts) we had the opportunity for a weeks break for relatively few points at the Sahara Sunset in Benalmadea Costa, as we could get Easy Jet airfairs to Malaga for a very low price we decided to try it.
We have been three times more since then - so needless to say I was not disappointed.
Benalmadena is only 15 kilometers from Malaga Airport, car hire is easily obtainable but it is only 25 euros for a taxi from the airport and there are plenty of excursions and good public transport available in the resort. It is set on the Costa del Sol between ...
