Thank God i did though! The place is superb. San Salvador, the capital, is set in the hills. The people of this city are very, very poor, but they are also very welcoming and friendly
The heat was impossible. i dont know if it is normally that hot but i think thaqt i must have sweated out at least three tonnes of liquid that i was there
Everywhere i went were warnings that tourists should be careful at all times. Apparently crime is a major problem with shootings, muggings and theft a common problem throughout the year...

Advantages: True Tropical Island heaven in the caribbean sea Disadvantages: It won't be unspoilt forever, go soon!
...Garrafon park or for a cheaper option Garrafon El Castille which is right next door but costs hardly anything. Both of these are at the south of the island.
Once the sun goes down and the day trippers head back to Cancun you find yourself making friends with your fellow Isla-explorers and the friendly Islenos themselves. The restaurents in downtown are excellent and there are a few bars with live music, Isla tequila is very good.
Getting to Isla is easy and cheap too, from Cancun airport take a shuttle to Puerto Juarez and catch the ferry there to Isla, it's a twenty minute trip and costs about 40 pesos (bout £2.00). Do this even if you are staying in Cancun, it's a much better deal than the expensive tours that are run to the island.
At the moment I think only Airtours offers a package holiday to Isla but getting there on your own is easy...

...! If you go by coach it will arrived to Rio Gallegos and from there to Ushuaia via Chile and you’ll need to cross in a ferry the “estrecho de Magellan’s”.
By plane from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia. Alternatively, from a regional flight from Rio Gallegos, Lago Argentino (el Calafate) and Comodoro Rivadavia. It is more expensive but it worth it.
Where to stay?
You have a wide option, hotels, aparts, B&B, campings…
the prices go from $200 at hotels (argentine pesos that are about 78 pounds per room per night, although there special promotions each season) or B&B are about $40 (25 pounds a night per room). Camping are about 5 or 7 pounds the night depending on how many nights you are willing to stay.
