I read a lot in my spare time and am trying very hard to learn Welsh, although I really wish I had learnt when there were still Welsh speakers in my family.I love cricket and rugby and support Kent and Wales respectively.

I'm sure this may upset people from Skye, but I really didn't like it. I had been wanting to visit for nearly 30 years and I was so disappointed. I had heard for years that it was a beautiful place but I couldn't see it the fog didn't lift for 2 days and the island seemed to be full.
Everything was so expensive and the people in shops, and restaurants seemed to resent tourists being there. I have worked in the tourist industry all my life so I try not to upset anyone, because I know how annoying it can be when trying to close up somebody comes it with a £50 note to buy a box of fudge!
There wasn't any room to move, or breathe. The guesthouse owner we booked with didn't have the manners to be in or answer the phone during the 10 hours we were trying to contact her and we found ourselves without accomodation, nearly 700 miles from home. I was really scary because nowhere else had room. We slept in the car on the first night, which isn't easy with young kids.
I left hating Skye and vowing never to come back, but on the way out (before paying a second time to go over the bridge!), we stoped at a petrol station and happened upon a DVD about Syke, which showed the island as calm and peaceful and it did look wonderful. So maybe I will give it another go, but not for a while.
Skye is a lovely place. i cant believe that you had such a bad time there! we are going back for our second visit this year. your review doesnt really cover skye at all, just your experiences

I visited the Isle of Skye and it was calm and peaceful - beautiful scenery. Go over on the ferry. It is a better way of getting there. Maureen

Advantages: beautiful scenery, peaceful, silent Disadvantages: Very dependent on the season and the weather. And the weather is often fickle with tourists.
