Not much there
Advantages: Disadvantages:
Nazareth has much history and is another tourist spot for pilgrims. I went there whilst on a tour in Israel, and as a Christian, was interested in where Jesus grew up. However, there is very little to see in the town of Nazareth as people have constantly lived in there. There is however, a huge Catholic Church in the town which has the remains of a house within it - which is suggested to have been the house where Jesus lived. As with many sites in ... ...There is another church in Nazareth which owns a small room below the ground which could be the remains of a synagogue and as this is the only remains of a synagogue within Nazareth, which has been found then it seems possible that Jesus would have been there as he spent most of his time within the synagogues. However, it was great just to be within the place where Jesus walked and to remember what the Bible says about the different places. ...

One of the nicest parts of Israel
Advantages: Beautiful scenery Disadvantages: No real disadvantages
...viewpoint of natural beauty, the Sea of Galilee is very promising. But there wasn’t really all that much to see (or did I just miss it.) Tiberias has a few nice archaeological sites and you can rent a bicycle if you want. You could go to Capernaum and other sites related to Jesus’ life. But if you go by yourself you’ll have to wait for the bus and probably walk 4-5 kilometres. And all there is to see is a synagogue. And you can’t even get in there ...

Not a lot to see here.
Advantages: Some nice beaches. Disadvantages: Not very interesting.
I didn’t really find a lot of things of interest in Haifa, apart from the Bahai temple which was a pretty interesting architectural achievement. If you are looking for Christian related sites, there is nothing of real interest in Haifa. There are a few very nice beaches though, where you can sit on the sand under umbrellas, or on the grass under the shade of trees and sip carrot juice (10 shekels or GBP 1.60 a go). I also went to the Bat Galim beach. ...

Not a lot to see
Advantages: Oldest city in world and lowest, too. Disadvantages: Very little remaining, unless you're a trained archaeologist
If you’re expecting to see really impressive archeological ruins in Jericho, you might be disappointed. After all, the walls came tumbling down, right? And you have to pay to get in. There is a shopping center with expensive tourist stuff – I’d give it a miss, but at least it’s airconditioned and you can cool down a little bit. Perhaps it would have been more interesting if I had had a tour guide and not just gone by myself. People are friendly enough ... ...explain various things about the town. Problem was, he was fairly insistent on taking me to a Muslim palace which was also built there. If you don’t like taking orders from taxi-drivers, then make your destination quite clear in advance. If he proposes another destination, politely thank him and say No. ...

Zealots, Romans and stubbed toes
Advantages: Hours of exploration if you like archaeology and Jewish history, good views over the Dead Sea Disadvantages: A cynic will view it as a pile of rubble on a hill
...other minor amendments.
~Summary~
Massada was a half-day tour during my week stay in Israel. It is on a hill and gives good views of the Dead Sea and surrounding area. It is not really a good place for children or adults with walking difficulties, as the terrain in the city is very rough. If you like archaeology and looking at ruins then this is the place for you.
~Introduction~
Massada is an old ruined fortress city, on a hill near the Dead ... ...in front of the Romans. Massada is now a symbol for Israeli and the phrase 'Massada will never fall again' is part of an oath taken by certain Israeli Defence Force units.
~Arriving in Massada~
I arrived from Eilat on a tour bus, we assembled at the bottom and took a cable car up to the top of hill and into Massada. There is a path to the top of the hill called the 'Snake Path', but even in January I didn't fancy going up that hill as it looked ...
