Fantastic hotel in Lake Garda, reasonable price and great staff

Advantages: Friendly staff, clean rooms, good facilities
Disadvantages: A little too far from town if walking, pool covered

We booked this hotel fairly quickly on the internet one night, having not much time to research the options, but the facilities seemed decent for the price per night (around £100 per night for room and breakfast for two). We were not at all disappointed. The hotel is pretty from the outside and has a parking garage free for use by guests. There are bicycles available for hire, a ping pong table, a hot tub and sun loungers on the roof of the hotel. ...
...is that it has a roof over it. The sides are open, but swimming in the sun is not possible. Despite the 30oC heat while we were there, the pool remained too cold to be relaxing! There is also some gym equipment in the pool area. Breakfast was a buffet of fruits, cheese, ham, croissants, bread, cereals etc which was more than adequate. The room had a large bed, large balcony and there was a safe and fridge in the wardrobe. The bathroom was modern ...

Local colour at a great price

Advantages: very very cheap, decent and respectable, nice interesting town
Disadvantages: a long way from the airport

Hotel del Corso is a rather ordinary three star hotel in Selvino which is twenty five kilometers from Bergamo airport. This doesn't sound very far, but it is up a mountain so you get a nice drive up a scenic mountain path, but it is hardly speedy driving! We stayed there after arriving at Bergamo airport on a fly-drive holiday, and not being able easily to find an inexpensive hotel near the airport which would put two adults and two children aged ...
...the town. The hotel rooms are above a bar, which is on one side of Selvino which is quite a big town. So eating out was easy, and I spent a happy afternoon in the large town playpark with my children, and walking around the town which has a plethora of small shops, coffee bars and ice cream parlours as well as restaurants. The worst thing about the hotel was that the bathroom smelt - even though it was all very clean - the plumbing just smelt. We ...

Sardinia - It's not where Sardines are from!

Advantages: Small Family Hotel, Beautiful Area, True Italian Family Life
Disadvantages: Little English Spoken, No On-Site Activities, No Dinner Menu

...past this small family run hotel 3 times before realising that there was actually a sign hidden behind an olive tree in the front carpark. The hotel (It's probably more of a guesthouse really) is situated on a corner, half way up a hill on the edge of town. A small supermarket and a couple of restaurants are within a 10 minute walk and the centre of town is a hodge-podge of churches, chapels, small bars and houses. There is a small museum, but it ...
...Check-In was easy. The hotel itself was (And hopefully still is) family run and the eldest son handled the majority of enquiries and check-ins in between his university studies. The room was simply beautiful. Terracotta tiled floor with a super-king sized bed, white walls with a deep royal blue decor gave the room massive amounts of space (The fact that the room was massive as well helped). There was a balcony that opened up onto a spectacular mountain ...

Mirame e Castelo, Ischia

Advantages: privacy
Disadvantages: bad service

...hotels and came across the Miramare e Castello. I confess to be a faithful user of Expedia.com, and I normally find its ratings rather reliable. The ratings given to the Miramare e Castello Hotel were rather good and becuase of my uncontrollable wish to arrive in Ischia as fast as I could, I did not continue the research much longer. I booked a seven night stay at the Miramare e Castello with breakfast included. The daily rate for the double room ...
...mistake I made with the Miramare e Castello was previous to my arrival. I decided to take my car to Ischia in order to drive from Ischia Ponte (where the hotel is located) to the Terme (thermal water spas) and to the charming restaurants and boutiques in the charming village of Sant\'Angelo (located in the opposite side of the island). It occurred to me that the roads were far smaller than remembered from walking through the island. Then, I realized ...

Don Antonio Camping Residence

Advantages: It's for every taste, who likes the beach and not
Disadvantages: Some service such as restaurant and minimarket are in the neighbor camping

It's a campsite suitable for families with children, but not only. It's direct on the sea so there are no roads to cross, which is ......no small thing, there is a beautiful swimming pool recently built and suitable for all ages with water slides and whirlpool. There are spaces for campers, caravans and tents as well as bungalows, studios and mobile homes for those who want to feel more comfortable. The pitches are grassy and shaded. The nice thing ...
...the price and in that of the bungalow, the studios and mobile homes is also included the beach-umbrella with beach chair and bed. For kids there's the mini club and every evening an unleashed baby dance. The entertainment also includes funny performances and periodically there are festivals that start in the morning and end in the evening! The town center is only a mile far and can be reached easily either on foot or by bike thanks to the bike and ...
