A Sleepova in Padova
Advantages: Comfortable hotel with good amenities Disadvantages: Not in the nicest of areas
...even more attractive.
The Best Western Hotel Biri sits just outside the old city of Padova in an area that has been earmarked for development. It's all glass and concrete and tarmac and shopping malls and Macdonalds and...you get the picture. Still, the hotel itself was a belter and an easy 20 minute drive took you to the doorstep (or should that be quayside) of Venice.
As I said, the hotel surroundings are less than salubrious and although it's ... ...city centre, you'd have to be a gloop of mozarelli short of a pizza to venture in that direction after dark...or during the day. Obviously, I'm exaggerating... but not a lot.
This place is not really geared for the holiday market with buinesses and conference centres close by, but there were quite a few guests who were obviously doing much the same as we were.
It's not surprising realy as it's well situated for access to all of Veneto's attractions. ...

Cheap and Cheerful Venetian Beds
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful Disadvantages: A short bus ride from Venice proper
...we ended up at the Delfino which looked like a very reasonably 3* place that didn’t cost the earth. The hotel is in Mestre which is a suburb just across the water from Venice, and as such is served by taxis and buses as well as a train station (there are no cars or other road-requiring vehicles on the main island because there are no roads). The bus from Treviso airport (the out of the way one served by Ryanair flights) stops at the station in Mestre ... ...stopped. My friends’ bus did but mine, the following day, didn’t choose to do this so I quickly discovered that the hotel is also a €15 taxi ride from Piazzale Roma, the main traffic hub in Venice. Had I known, I could alternatively have jumped on a local bus as the hotel is well served by these, but I didn’t know which number to get, I was hot and tired after travelling, and I really needed an ice cream sooner rather than later, so a taxi it was.

Sardinia - It's not where Sardines are from!
Advantages: Small Family Hotel, Beautiful Area, True Italian Family Life Disadvantages: Little English Spoken, No On-Site Activities, No Dinner Menu
...past this small family run hotel 3 times before realising that there was actually a sign hidden behind an olive tree in the front carpark. The hotel (It's probably more of a guesthouse really) is situated on a corner, half way up a hill on the edge of town. A small supermarket and a couple of restaurants are within a 10 minute walk and the centre of town is a hodge-podge of churches, chapels, small bars and houses. There is a small museum, but it ... ...Check-In was easy. The hotel itself was (And hopefully still is) family run and the eldest son handled the majority of enquiries and check-ins in between his university studies. The room was simply beautiful. Terracotta tiled floor with a super-king sized bed, white walls with a deep royal blue decor gave the room massive amounts of space (The fact that the room was massive as well helped). There was a balcony that opened up onto a spectacular mountain ...

Don Antonio Camping Residence
Advantages: It's for every taste, who likes the beach and not Disadvantages: Some service such as restaurant and minimarket are in the neighbor camping
It's a campsite suitable for families with children, but not only. It's direct on the sea so there are no roads to cross, which is ......no small thing, there is a beautiful swimming pool recently built and suitable for all ages with water slides and whirlpool. There are spaces for campers, caravans and tents as well as bungalows, studios and mobile homes for those who want to feel more comfortable. The pitches are grassy and shaded. The nice thing ... ...the price and in that of the bungalow, the studios and mobile homes is also included the beach-umbrella with beach chair and bed. For kids there's the mini club and every evening an unleashed baby dance. The entertainment also includes funny performances and periodically there are festivals that start in the morning and end in the evening! The town center is only a mile far and can be reached easily either on foot or by bike thanks to the bike and ...

Modern Hotel, but not in the city centre.
Advantages: Nice modern rooms and friendly staff Disadvantages: location is away from central Cagliari.
Location The Holiday Inn Cagliari hotel is located close to the airport, on the outskirts of Cagliairi, therefore if you are planning to go be aware that the best way to get into the city centre is via a taxi (prices varied from 10-15 euro). The hotel is located just off a central road, but is quite nonetheless. Check-in Check-in was fast and efficient, I booked two standard King rooms and everything was correct. The staff at the desk ... ...beds were comfortable and the Holiday Inn Pillow Menu is a nice idea. Food I had breakfast included in my rate, the breakfast was amazing, so much to choose from! Croissants, cakes, cereals, cooked breakfast, tea, coffee, orange etc. One of my group members suffers from a wheat intolerance problem but was happy that the hotel provided rye bread - too many hotel breakfasts dont seem to adequately cater for specific diets! I did have lunch at ...
