Modern Hotel, but not in the city centre.

Advantages: Nice modern rooms and friendly staff
Disadvantages: location is away from central Cagliari.

Location The Holiday Inn Cagliari hotel is located close to the airport, on the outskirts of Cagliairi, therefore if you are planning to go be aware that the best way to get into the city centre is via a taxi (prices varied from 10-15 euro). The hotel is located just off a central road, but is quite nonetheless. Check-in Check-in was fast and efficient, I booked two standard King rooms and everything was correct. The staff at the desk ...
...beds were comfortable and the Holiday Inn Pillow Menu is a nice idea. Food I had breakfast included in my rate, the breakfast was amazing, so much to choose from! Croissants, cakes, cereals, cooked breakfast, tea, coffee, orange etc. One of my group members suffers from a wheat intolerance problem but was happy that the hotel provided rye bread - too many hotel breakfasts dont seem to adequately cater for specific diets! I did have lunch at ...

TOP PLACE CASERTA

Advantages: Comfortable, well equipped, large room
Disadvantages: Not the best location

...wouldn't normally stay at a Crowne Plaza hotel but I managed to score a pretty good deal on this one in Caserta (262 euros for 3 nights). But why Caserta? Well, we wanted to stay in the general area of Vesuvius and one stay in Naples is enough for any sane person. A quick search around for suitable hotels doesn't fill one with much optimism either. So, when we came across this one we grabbed it. Caserta is just a few miles north of Naples and sits ...
...is the hotel. You just head for the Royal Palace, then head back out of town following the signs for the hotel...simples. It's situated in an area that was once dominated by heavy industry but has long since been lying derelict. Lots of new development going on with a mix of commercial and residential but some of the old industrial buildings have been saved as a kind of monument - there was a huge chimney nearby which made for a very handy landmark ...

Modernity in Modena

Advantages: Good stopover. Clean and comfortable
Disadvantages: None for me

...nation's architectural culture. The Holiday inn, Modena fits that particular bill precisely...it's nothing like lodging in ...etc.etc. Suits me sir. If I'm spending the day slogging around ancient ruins, medieval alleyways and tripping over baroque ornamentation, the last thing I want when I lay my weary head to rest is a rickety old metal bed frame, 'rustic' furniture, and hotels just chock-full of 'character'. No sirree bob. I want modernity, non-descript ...
...Where exactly is the Holiday Inn? Glad you asked. Only a fool would be struggling to find this hotel. It's just off the junction of the A1 and the ring road on the northern edge of the city, and as it's about 10 floors of grey concrete set amongst low rise buildings and greenery, it sticks out like an honest man at a bank convention. Reception is pretty standard for a Holiday Inn - business-like and efficient with multi-lingual staff sorting you ...

Le Meridien Lingotto - Turin at its best

Advantages: Fantastic period building but thoroughly modern facilities.
Disadvantages: A public transport ride away from the centre of Turin.

...and a stay in the Le Meridien Lingotto and it's one of the best hotels I have stayed in. Converted from an old Fiat factory the building oozes period charm from the outside but has been thoroughly updated inside with fantastic quality fittings and interesting artwork including the original architectural submissions from 1984. This hotel is famous (infamous) for having maintained the original roof top test track that was used when it was busy manufacturing ...
...get a key from reception and take the lift to the roof and access the test track, where you can relive in your mind the sights of Minis tearing around as seen in the movie "The Italian Job". They actually encourage you to use it as a jogging track and indeed this roof top is listed in a list of the Top 100 places to jog in the world. The room we stayed in was spacious, had an excellent shower and rarely for posh hotels, you were able to open the ...

Don Antonio Camping Residence

Advantages: It's for every taste, who likes the beach and not
Disadvantages: Some service such as restaurant and minimarket are in the neighbor camping

It's a campsite suitable for families with children, but not only. It's direct on the sea so there are no roads to cross, which is ......no small thing, there is a beautiful swimming pool recently built and suitable for all ages with water slides and whirlpool. There are spaces for campers, caravans and tents as well as bungalows, studios and mobile homes for those who want to feel more comfortable. The pitches are grassy and shaded. The nice thing ...
...the price and in that of the bungalow, the studios and mobile homes is also included the beach-umbrella with beach chair and bed. For kids there's the mini club and every evening an unleashed baby dance. The entertainment also includes funny performances and periodically there are festivals that start in the morning and end in the evening! The town center is only a mile far and can be reached easily either on foot or by bike thanks to the bike and ...
